Magnum said:That I can imagine, and I do know it. But it's probably not the whole truth. "keeping the structure" is not everything. For example, if that was the case then the all cotton army jackets would be made of poly too, wouldn't it? Besides, the 3 wolves jacket and the black version of the SS05 Double buttoned sailor blazer was made of wool instead of poly/cotton.
I just mean it feels a little cheap to be wearing a DINNER jacket, which it essentially is, made out of poly/cotton.
Btw: I bought it in size 48![]()
Magnum said:I just hope that the white ones aren't made out of poly to make up for the fact that the white version aren't canvased. ( to make it stiffer, to look like a more contructed canvased jacket)

Comme des Garcons, Yamamoto or especially Issey Miyake would have to be labeled as producing dull quality if you´d think like this... I´ve got a blazer with similar composition from Follow Me and it´s by far better quality as if it was just a 100% cotton gabardine. Due to the poly, the cloth doesn´t wrinkle too much from wear and it is also more likely to fade less in colour than pure cottons. You can also tell from the drape that this blend (which Dior had used almost EVERY season, from Follow Me´s Sahariennes, blazers and high-waisted pants to F/W 2004´s and S/S 2005´s black canvas jeans) has a fine texture while staying in shape nicely. The classic "Grain de Poudre", Dior Homme´s signature smoking fabric is totally a different story and one of the most expensive and refined of Dior´s fabrics, it´s more sophisticated than the poly/cotton.
What you can´t tell from the pictures of S/S 2005 was that most of the pieces were very heavily distressed for the show, the shirt collars and t-shirts roughed up and sometimes even stained with holes, the blazers worn in and wrinkled. it makes sense to use a slightly more relaxed fabric for a tux that is meant to be used for the daytime, worn in a totally different context, with jeans and a polo shirt.
(yey it's fully canvased! Just the fact of it beeing constructed that way proves that the poly/cotton blend isn't a cost-saving-factor thingie)
