Do you prefer skirts or dresses?

I like skirts better generally, because they are more versatile--you can pair them up with more stuff and get more mileage out of your wardrobe. Dresses take up more space in the closet and only pretty much go with themselves.

Depends on the event, and being 16 I don't have as many occasions to wear a dress as I do a skirt. Skirts can be dressed up or down much easier than dresses, I deff. agree with As You Like It on that point. but then again, a beautiful dress can make you feel more glamorous and ladylike than any skirt.
maybe thats just me tho...

You're almost asking me would I like my million dollars in cash or a cheque..
And that's almost me saying I don't mind so long as it's one or the other

Dresses can be layered with other things, and even with a skirt if you like to have your cake and eat it..
If it's cold I'm addicted to skirts and fancy tights, or dresses and jeans, or dresses and fancy tights or dresses over full skirts and fancy tights. :woot:
If it's not cold I prefer dresses, because I generally find them prettier

Some of my preference for skirts is somewhat psychological. I often feel too dressed up and a bit "prissy" in a dress, although some of my dresses are actually pretty casual.

I'm weird, though, so don't mind me

It's so hard to choose between a skirt and a dress  .

Skirts are practical and you can pair them easily with other items and you can dress them up or down, and its harded to do that with a dress i'd say.

But then, dresses are great for glamour and there are so many different styles to choose from.

so what i'm trying to say is... i have no idea.

p.s i'm new hi everyone.

Welcome to tFS, Ms. Diorella!

Well I'm a man so I would prefer to wear a skirt because dresses look really bad on my figure...(I would complain about this but 'Dear Mr. Galliano, why don't you make dresses for 6ft. women with heavily muscled pecs, deltoids and thighs and tiny hips?' wouldn't be a very well received letter)...

On women both are good. Dresses can be prettier or, dare I say, 'dressier'...skirts can also be good...and convenient...

i'm more of a skirt girl myself, however i do like dresses on occasion but am VERY picky about them. i don't like anything too prissy and flowy; i like tight, sexy little dresses, like this one i am going to get from versace versus f/w '04  ...

I very, very rarely wear jeans or pants of any kind.

I prefer dresses but to go with just cute tops I wear shorts. So I guess my skirts are like most peoples' pants, and my dresses are like most peoples' skirts?

I havent worn any form of pants for a month and a half...

Its been skirts...I wear skirts because they are just so easy to mix and match, turn casual into a more formal look, etc...I find also it compliments my body type usually better than a dress...I have a hard time looking for a dress, but skirts I find so easily it seems I buy in bulk. :P Its hot right now as well so it keeps me cool...thing though is now wind is my enemy...

I like dresses for ocassions...sweet summer dresses for special celebration lunches with family, long glamourous things for soirees.

 That's what I would say too. I love the casualness of skirts and their versatality (sp? spelling's not what it should be). Dress down for me is probably a lovely print skirt, a white tank and pretty kitten heels. However, I confess, I am a dressy kind of girl. While other girls have a weakness for purses, shoes, I have a weakness for dresses (particularly those from BCBG). This is going to be awkard when I go to college... :innocent: I love how pretty and demure (which I am not in real life) a dress can make you feel. The right fabric be it silk or the whisper of chiffon can make me stand that much taller.

Skirts. My summer wardrobe is basically comprised of denim and a few non-denim skirts. I don't like shorts and I only wear dresses on formal occasions.

He might do it, actually. Much better that you don't write that letter... :ninja:

i love dresses! they make me feel all cute and dresses up! the downside of them is that you can't mix and match them with things..i mean skirts you can wear them with different shirts but with dresses..it's like you just have one and that's it..
