Ankle boots + skirts...

It can look really great, in my opinion, with black stocking and midlength skirts and dresses.

I think these boots would look awesome paired with a skirt or dress:

it's kind of ironic how this became a HUGE trend and then this thread died...
...

I like ankle boots with skirts or dresses that are above or at the knee. I just can't do it with a longer skirt.:innocent:

omigosh! thanks to all of you for such wonderful pictures (and ideas).
my legs are stick thin  and calf-length boots never look right on me yet i LOVE boots. anlke booties were my go-to but i was unsure if they'd work with shorter skirts.
:flower: thanks again!

i like how it looks with tights....
not so sure it works as well without tights...
maybe if you add little socks?

this is a look i absolutely love...

:ermm: I'm usually afraid that wearing ankle boots will make my legs look stumpy and short in a skirt. Or, I guess that just depends on the length of the skirt, no?

^ Or the color of your legs  If you wore tights the same color as the boots, that should fix it ...

I agree with ta-ta about the same colored tights and boots. I think also the fit of the boot matters ... ankle boots that follow the line of your ankle/leg work really well.

That's what I was thinking, that if the opening of the boot isn't snug around you leg, you can get a choppy look along the leg.

The look of ankle boots and a skirt seem very okay. I'm assuming that the skirt has to be between mid-thigh and knee-length. It would have to depend on what kind of skirt and boot combination we're talking about. Are we talking about a pleated mini skirt with chic booties? Are we talking about a frilly, girly skirt paired with tough ankle boots (a la Hannah Montana)? Oh yeah... this look also includes the much-beloved open-toe boots I've been opposed to. I'm reminded of an ad I saw in a local newspaper where one femme was wearing this black dress or skirt, some violet tights, and these black open-toe booties with a zipper down the center.

Making this look work really depends on a certain kind of skirt, a certain kind of booties, and (optional) any number of accessories (like leggings or tights). I have no problem with skirt + ankle boots.

I wear skirts and ankle boots a lot, in fact probably more than anything else. I love the way they look, and not always with dark tights either, bare legs can look good. I wouldnt wear them with anything longer than a knee length dress or skirt though, I find that makes my legs look a bit stumpy.

i love this look, i'm never out of a pair of ankle boots!
although i usually wear jeans/trousers with them, i do have a few pictures (i think!) with skirts. i'll try 'n find them

you look great amerie!

Ankle boots + a short skirt is a very fun look, but I don't know, I think a below knee skirt and ankle boots can look good and can be extremely elegant ... perhaps it's just a bit trickier than with a shorter skirt? For example, I think this VB look (pic from style.com) is just lovely:

of course she is a model with mile long legs. But I posted a picture of one of my outfits a few pages back (http://forums.thefashionspot.com/showpost.php?p=3708911&postcount=132) where I'm wearing a below knee skirt and ankle boots, and I think it looks fine. And I am by no means tall! The key might be a straight skirt, fitted boots, and uniform color of the skirt, tights, and boots

I think it depends on the skirt, the boots and how the person carries it off.

Ankle boots look best with short or knee-length skirts, IMO.

I like to wear colorful tights when I wear them.
