Does Designer Make you Fashionable?

Sometimes it does and Sometimes it doesnt. I think it totally depends on the circumstances, The person and the choice of clothing, Some people cant afford designer labels and can still make awesome style out of not much then you get the people who do buy designer and it goes all wrong . =P

I agree. REAL fashionable people dont shop ONLY high end or ONLY at thrift stores. It wouldn't matter to a stylish person where the clothes came from...all that matters is if it looks good or not ^_^

fashion is something you are born with are blessed to learn...not something you can buy. I think if you have good taste, confidence, and know how to put things together, you can make a cheap outfit look far better than an obscenely expensive designer outfit that is poorly styled and worn with that added bit of insecurity. I own hardly an designer, excepting a couple of vintage designer pieces that hardly ever see the light of day...perhaps I'm not runway-chic, but I like to think I have something of a 'style' at least. and I know there are many other very fashionable members here at tfs who can say the same. and quite frankly, I think we at tfs are quite a fashionable bunch.

I believe that the most fashionable of people are those who can learn from the great. Not by wearing designer labels will you become fashionable, but rather, when you can learn from the designers that you wear. I think that if people can admit their flaws and acknowledge that there is always more to learn, then they are fashionable. Attitude is important though. To look good, you've got to feel good. And if you are completely confident in what you wear, then you are worthy of being considered fashionable. : )

But do you guys think that if you spend thousands and wear head-to-toe Designer clothes it makes you fashionable?

no way. u can take him that bryan boy as an example. i would despise him seriously more than anything.
he doesn't pull off the style well and ending up looking like a ******.

and hes far from the DH guys from the slim look style. very very far.

oh man.

what does he actually work as? would appreciate if some daring person can actually email him to ask or something.

Bryanboy is most likely some guy that needs to get people's attention. In fact, I bet he wants people to talk about him just like we are doing now. He probably has the "bad publicity is good publicity" mentality. Then again, everyone has their own interpretation of what fashionable means. Some may think that wearing labels is not truly fashionable, and others may think one is fashionable so long as they like what they are wearing...since being fashionable really has little to do with what others will think....take Jean-Paul or Galliano for example...or any surrealist-inspired designer for that matter!

well I like Bryanboy because his blog is fun to read. I don't like what he wears but so what, I don't like what half my school wears. If he likes it I don't see the big deal.

It doesn't take designer clothes to make you fashionable, obviously.

We grew up without a lot of money, and when I was a teenager I used to buy really cheap clothes, like whenever I saw something cheap I'd buy it. The clothes always looked GOOD, and it was always my taste

But the more I grow up (23 now) the more I realize that patience, thought, AND a bit of money does buy better QUALITY of clothes.

Unfortuately, classical, plain clothes do cost more than busy, trendy, weird clothes that will go out of style very soon. That's unfortunate but I think it is smarter to invest in clothes that cost a bit more that you can wear for years.

I used to always think - buy whatever's cheap - but after a lot of pain and ruined possessions you realize - be smart, don't waste your money, but buy quality.

Money = Quality and Time

Unfortunately if I had more money I would be more stylish - that's just fact. I would have a lot more time to shop - which means thinking carefully before buying anything and searching high and low for the perfect garment that goes to my taste.
Also, each piece would have more quality and be more gorgeous.
Also, I'd have time/money/patience to care for each garment - I'm so cheap that I hate buying dry-clean-only items - but if I had more money I could dry clean everything in my closet - even wifebeaters and jeans so that they never fade.

Designers don't make you fashionable - but they do make other shallow people envy you a lot and notice you.

I do think that time, money (AND TASTE OBVIOUSLY) go a long, long way in helping you look great day to day.
