Dooney & Bourke

doesnt anyone just want an original bag for once. instead of having a purse that looks like millions of other girls' purses?

theyre all cute, but name brand or not, too many people own them. it looses the "shine".
I agree. Not only are no-name bags a million times cheaper, but they are also much more unique and personalized. :flower:

I didn't like these bags until I saw them in person. The zipper is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute. Its all rainbow. EVERY GIRL in the Braintree Mall in Mass. had this bag. It was hard not to notice. I would never buy one, its not my style. But I think they are kind of cute. They have this really cute heart charm thing, as well.

Ok, no offense, but didn't DOONEY go out of style like almost ten years ago?
I mean I remember when everyone had one. And if you did, you were cool.
I think it's cool how they are trying to re-invent themselves and try to attract the younger crowd, but what kind of good designer in their right mind, that has obviously been in the buisness a long time, would make LOUIE VUITTON wannabes? And the leather is like ridiculous. EWW! Weren't they made for old people anyway?

And by the way, what's up with the ugly beige color?? Who buy beige purses?

Maybe I just live in a black hole when it comes to fashion but I haven't seen those rainbow bags much around here. I have been seeing those LV bags on green canvas a lot, though I am not experienced enough with them to tell if they are real or fake.

I hate it when styles get overdone. Even if you like the style originally you get so fed up seeing everyone with the same thing that it turns you off it completely. It's like listening to a song on the radio that you liked at first but they overplay it so much that you want to jump out of a window whenever it's on.

I think it's really sad that when a semi-respected (though not entirely fashionable) brand like Dooney & Bourke pulls something like this. I mean, their bags are--not to offend anyone--rather unappealing. But the quality is first-rate and a lot of women swear by DB. This, in my eyes, makes them lose all credibility. Even if I was considering buying a Dooney, this would certainly change my mind.

And that pastel pink logo heart charm!  How gross! They are obviously trying to attract a younger market with this line as well as their recent ad campaigns but I wish they wouldn't stoop to this level.
I completely agree.

A friend of mine has a theory that Dooney did this for the "lower end" women who couldn't afford the LV Murakami bags.

HAHAHA.

I agree!

PS: Dooney is not for old people. It's for suburban, midwestern, slightly "higher end (oooh a $200 bag)" housewives who buy beige purses. Believe me, I know a lot.

I agree with standard every day D&B being for "older" ladies of a certain type, but I still can't help but think the IT bags are cute.
Also, why so much hype about a French bag, don't they hate us anyway?

Okay, what's wrong with 'beige' purses...? Does that include tan, khaki, etc etc?

I like beige, khaki, tan, etc... too. I don't think it really has anything to do with the color, it's just that D&B bags are generally sooo... not necessarily unstylish, but so preppy? Is that the word I'm looking for? So older lady sophisticate...

I really keep thinking about the rainbow IT bags & I do want one. I'm in Tucson & I haven't seen alot of them on the streets, although, being a mom, I havent much been on the streets...

I think though, b/c of my personal style, the bags would work with both my "work" outfits & my weekend clothes...

Ahhh I see..hehe just making sure...

I'm not a D&B fan, esp. not that multicolor collection cuz it's not MY style, but if you think it truly fits your personal style and your lifestyle, go for it...and that goes for any purchase. Sure D&B may typically be considered for such and such group, but I think theres things that suit everyone...and there's ways of making things work for you... KK I feel like i'm talking out of my butt and making ZERO sense

I am SO SICK of the multicolored logo crap that is everywhere. every single line has a purse with the take off of the LV. I didnt like the LV when it came out the first time. Geebus designers. STOP FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

And that is kind of why I am holding off buying the D&B. I really think they are cute, but b/c of all the knock offs...
It's like when you hear a song you love on the radio too many times, it gets tiring after a while.
And I hate it b/c I really like the style & shape of the D&B bag, not just the color...

Thanks, poman, for "givin' it" to us. What you gave or what we got is still a mystery to me, however.

I apologize if it is untrue, but this board doesn't get THAT many new posters and for 10+ new posters to sign up and comment on this thread with the same exact opinion seems a little fishy to me.
I agree.

It's not like we're going to run out and buy this thing, anyway!

does anyone here actually like them? i'm new and don't want to piss anyone off, but i just ordered mine in the tassel top zip and i think its adoarable! does anyone agree with me?
i think they're cute too

I never cared for D&B especially the "it" bags. I feel they are an awful LV copy and are showing up everywhere. I did recently cave and buy my first ever Dooney from the Nile collection. I really like the colored, croc embosed leather collection and it's a bag I haven't seen everywhere.....YET!!! ;) They're only on the website and in the boutiques so hopefully they won't appeal to the masses.

Why is this even necessary? $200 IS a lot of money for the vast majority of people. And if you "know a lot", it makes me wonder why you waste time posting nearly 200 messages in three days.

oohhh wat style and color from the Nile collection did you get? i reallly wanted the fuschia medium tassel tote, but its sold out everywhere :(

oh and i have a D&B It Bag, the tassel top zip style plus the matching medium wristlet - both of which were gifts from my boyfriend. i also have 2 LV knockoffs, both of which my mom got me lol. anyway, i like both of them, but of cos my D&B better since its "real" and of cos the quality is much better than the LV knockoffs.

those nile bags are kinda cute.

but oh goodness -- did you see the other it bags. they're like a hermes birkin design with murakrami logo leather fabric. be more original.

after looking at all those definitly agree that dooney seems to be for the middle class woman wanting a LV inspired bag.

hahaha my friend said she sees DB bags for the "45 year old woman wearing high waisted jeans with elastic waist right over her poochy belly, white shirt with lacey collar, red cardigan, old reeboks, big curley blonde hair, big red framed glasses, and slouchy posture" i almost died laughing.

Yeah, becuase you know everyone who can't afford a $5000 bag is just tacky and needs to be made fun of :censored:

I honestly wonder if the majority of people here can even afford that stuff, or just like to get their jollies by acting like they're better than everyone else.

If they cost $3000 people would probably think they were great.
