Dries van Noten

^ you're going to Paris????? I'm so excited for you! The Paris Dries store is a dream ... it's worth it to see the decor alone. But you still must visit one of the Isabel Marant stores

Kind of unfortunately, my husband and I agreed to go on a strict budget the next year, to save up for his graduate studies ... I'll only be able to buy a few things for the whole season, so I'll have to think about each purchase really thoroughly. Although I might end up blowing my entire budget on Dries, I love it so much.

planned budgets...the down side of marriage. ^_^
I'm going to have to get a list :flower: from you and the rest of the clan.

oh lucky, you are going to die when you see the Dries store! :sideways:

The interior is absolutely exquisite--so rich and cozy and luxurious. When I was there in November, they had all sorts of things that I never saw anywhere else...really amazing textiles, especially. And the people there were just lovely. So save up! :p

(Also, the cafe next door has really nice tarte tatin. :ninja: I didn't care much for Rive Gauche shopping in general, but Le Bon Marche is worth a visit. Very good selection of Dries as well, among other things.)

sorry to get off topic, but yes, visit Le Bon Marche! As well as Printemps. It's hard to imagine department stores having everything you love under one roof.
I'm sure you've heard of it but L'Eclaireur
So many other brand boutiques, YY, Lilith, Vanessa Bruno, etc.
And while you're at it, please have some salted caramel ice-cream from Bertillon! Yum ....

Does Dries van Noten create/sell textiles ? :o
or are these just for decorating the boutique...
I think he would be perfect for that

I wish I could take all of you with me. what fun we would have. I might believe I died and went to heaven!!

I'm sorry Gius....I was just referring to the fabrics of clothes. Did I use the wrong word? Is textiles just for interior fabrics?

I actually thought of you while I was there, because they were so amazing..some of them looked like they were painted, but very intricately. I do know that Dries sells fabrics at his stock sales, as do some of the other Belgian designers. :innocent:

oh lucky...if I could fit, I would be a stowaway in your luggage...that would be worth a trip in itself, actually. :p

That's okay :p Oh I was just thinking about textiles that haven't been made into anything yet. I think the word's used the same way

It seems like it was only in his 2007 collections that he was using synthetic fabric, no? It seems really interesting. I wonder if he was doing anything unusual with them
I find he generally likes to work with them in a traditional way

I received my new DVN boots today! I really love the colour; it's a deep, jewel-toned purple. :flower:
Excuse the mess, i am going away in a few days and had to open and then pack away the shoes!

congrats on the boots rollagasper! they look great on you! the color is so beautiful.

damn you! I love those boots AND they were on sale at MM but they were sold out in my size! They look gorg! I much prefer the purple to the black. They look stunning!

^ Thank you! :flower: I couldn't get it on sale at MM either because 36s were sold out like two weeks after they went on sale! But I actually think these run maybe 1/2 a size larger. That's what it feels like on my feet anyway.

:wub::wub: I don't know how I missed your post rollagasper. the color is incredible and its ideal with the grey socks too. makes you legs look :woot:

Saks put out their first shipment of spring Dries. Not a whole lot yet, especially in terms of the printed items. A common style they ordered in the prints seemed to be a slightly cropped and slouchy elbow sleeve blouse. They also ordered a really cool pair of olive pants with rolled hem in some kind of canvas fabric that had a slight sheen. And finally, a beautiful solid khaki/green colored silk sheath dress with silver and white beading on the chest and shoulders ... the beads on the shoulder looked a bit like small shells. Definitely a standout to me, it captured the tribal/safari theme and looked a little bit flapper but at the same time not. It also came in magenta, but I loved the khaki. I'm so looking forward to seeing the rest of the collection come in!

already in stores...tourist, you have my curiosity totally peaked.

^ I was surprised to see Spring items there myself. I went to take another look at the sale items, since Saks was having a gift card event, but got completely distracted by the new stuff. Dries is apparently doing very well at the SF Saks ... they will be having a Dries boutique next season, which means the buy is probably pretty big. And Saks prices are so good, it makes it hard to support the local boutiques ....

rollagasper...!!!!...:woot:...
LOVE THEM!!!...

please post pics with complete outfits when you start wearing them!

such a delicious colour!!!

:bounce:

tourist, totally bad influence you are my dear. I actually called saks sf and ordered the khaki rolled cuff pant and I was convinced to try a cowl neck floral short sleeve silk blouse, the colors sounded like they would be OK, but you never know until it is on. the only tee's they had as of yet were a plain blush one which didn't sound like the one to buy just yet. what is neat is that it seems like their buyer choose completely different looks than barneys.

luckyme, oh my! If they are the same pants, I tried those on, in a size 38. They were too big for me, but I think you're going to love them. I really like the rolled hem, it makes that trend very easy to do. Although the color is definitely green, a bit olive. The only other pants I saw were white, so I'm pretty sure those are the ones you ordered. I wonder if the blouse is one of the ones I was talking about ... a little longer than short sleeve, almost elbow, and slightly flared at the sleeve opening. I only remember 2 prints, one that was white with a pink pattern (sort of eh), and then a deep colored floral, which was nice. Did the SA mention what their buy was like for the season?
