I have a feeling Patrick Demarchelier is involved with the premiere issue, because Fiona Hering (the fashion features director) got him on the phone to give an interview about the Dior couture book a couple of weeks ago in RTL Boulevard.
It would be nice to do a group shot with all the big Dutch girls, not just have a solo Lara cover - even though she is 100% the face of the Dutch model boom, she's kinda over done. I'd love to see Kim, Doutzen, Lara, Daphne, Rianne + Sophie all together.
I think it's funny that three other Vogue editions have Dutch models on the cover this month (Doutzen on Vogue Paris, Daphne on Vogue Russia & Korea). My guess is that Lara will be on the cover although I'd love it to be a group shot, too! (And I'd add Bette Franke to Simera's list of models who should be on it)
Can't wait for the first pictures to surface soon.
Pictures should probably come tomorrow, since the release party is tomorrow night.
I'd love a group shot. But there are almost too many girls to chose from! Doutzen, Lara, Ymre, Bette, Rianne, Mirte, Nimue, Melissa, Daphne, Saskia, Patricia, Romee, Josefien, Milou, Anna, Laura, Marique, Dewi etc etc etc.
If Lara isn't on it though, that would be a missed opportunity. She's our number one fashion export right now.
Oh, well, that seems very limiting. They should've tried to expand the region more. I remember the media did include the Belgian girls in that Dutch model wave in the early-aughts.
^It seems limiting, but it's a just question of nationality. Belgian/Flemish is just totally different compared to Dutch. There are enough high profile Dutch models to fill a 5 page fold-out cover, so it's far from limiting. I'm sure Belgian models will be featured in upcoming issues just as models of other nationalities will be, but it just doesn't make sense at all if you put Belgian girls in a group shot of only Dutch models.
I probably shouldn't tell this, cause I might look like an obsessed freak but I had a dream about the premiere issue last night. It was a pretty solid (yet rather dark) issue.
So they chose more upcoming models than established ones...
I do like the models, but the cover doesn't really WOW me yet, like I think a first Vogue cover should. But I think I have to see the cover in higher quality before I can really judge.
