It seems every time I look at a fashion magazine these days, I'm thinking, "You're young and you're lovely... but you're not your mother". From Lila to Kaia to Carys (soon to be in Fendi ads with CZJ), it's a plague upon the pages.

There's always the argument that the true waste would be for these people to turn down the opportunities on offer to them - but in the meantime, there are sensational no-name models out there that we're never going to hear about.

Surnames might sell, but the cruel truth of beauty - and unforgettable modelling - is that it's spontaneously gifted to individuals at random. Your famous mother can teach you how to conduct yourself, but she can't change your eyes being too close together for photogenic perfection.

Personally speaking, I find it odd that all these famous mums are doing whatever they can to secure the cushiest jobs for their daughters. Most of them actually came from nothing and had to claw their way to the top. You'd think, knowing how easily their own can get covers and campaigns, these model mums would instead sympathise with the nameless mass of girls who must endure endless castings, abuse, and fierce competitors just for a filler slot in NYFW.

Also, how is it that 95% of all model kids are now going into modelling because, well, mum did it? Damned if I'd go into crisis management just to follow into my dad's footsteps!
I really believed 'Marianne' Casta was above it all. Kate, Helena, and Cindy didn't shock me, the latter is a Mama Rose incarnate so it stands to reason. But I'm quite amazed at Laetitia and Angela Lindvall.

And with all the parroting that celebrities do about how they 'deeply support feminism', you'd think they'd be angling for their daughters to follow more varied careers than modelling. If you have the backing of family money, you've got the opportunity to study any subject under the sun, and more help along the way to become an 'expert' in your field.

But no, stick your daughter's second-rate face in front of the camera for easy money, and to help keep mummy's name to the forefront, in case people start forgetting about her - because fame is a difficult drug to give up, once you've had it for years.
