Erin Wasson x RVCA S/S 10 New York

^ yeah i see your point.. is there no legal concerns with what she has done?
with blisslau, i guess it would be hard for a smaller designer..
but posen may want to sue or something?

i don't know maybe thats silly.. but i didn't think you could get away with copying designs i thought it was illegal..

i mean the person who actually makes purchases with real money. not just a newspaper critic or a magazine editor. that's what i mean by a real consumer. for example, i'm a real consumer of band of outsider ties because i buy and wear them. i can admire and blog about the merits of lanvin ties all day long, but when it comes down to it, i buy band of outsiders'. that's what i mean. i repeat, people vote with their dollars -- it's sort of what fashion's night out wanted to promote -- so as much as we may want to say "this is in fashion and this is not," it's ultimately the people who decide with their dollars.

why rodarte? because the girl who can afford rodarte -- the traina girls, et al -- also buy brands like this for basics. that's why houses like rodarte are doing things with target. there's a market for it. erin wasson's neither the first or the last.

and that is really sad.
people should vote with their mind !

.....

obviously 80% of Earth lacks of this.
And 20% knows it !

By the way, if people vote with their money, then :

In the USA the wealth of the top 1% is greater than that of the bottom 95%.

the assets of the 200
richest people are more than the combined
income of 41% of the world's people.
"

From UN......

Do we have much say???? NO!!!!! One dollar, one vote: another way to mask us from the reality: corporations, people with money have their say, purchasers, not so much!!!!!!!!

Why do people still buy crap designed by Erin Wasson, because she's got a good marketing firm that's supplying big $$$ to promote her...... Plus she's got the look the fashion is industry is pushing......... Sexy Cali blonde......

I say CRAP!

we don't have those laws in the united states at the moment. in fact, four of the designers that dressed the first lady recently lobbied washington to put something like this into effect.

well, in the united states, the median income hovers in the mid-$40k range and most spend $1500+ on clothes each year. within that framework, i believe many people have the ability to buy a few special pieces and a whole lot of basics. we can argue all day about the choices people make, but corporations don't run themselves: they're mostly filled with middle class people making decision on and about other middle class people. most buyers i know do not make buying decision based on their elite friends, but on what they KNOW will sell.

this collaboration between erin wasson and rvca has met such success because there exist a lot of teens and young adults who want a piece of that erin wasson vibe. and in that respect, she has hit it out of the park.

if we don't like it, we don't have to buy it. it's the job of other designers -- yes, true authentic designers -- to present us with a better vision.

i am actaully a bit more impressed having seen some detailing!

thank you.

mikeijames is right on: Erin for RVCA is like the American version of Kate Moss for Topshop, basically it's just a chance to dress the way she would. I think some of the pieces are interesting, same goes for the styling- but the legions of copycats are getting a bit tiring to look at. It's great if your life and body actually allow you to get some good wear out of the pieces (it works for Rumi, to take just one example, and beautifully), but that isn't always the case.

I have a yellow floral sideshow dress that is brand new with tags that I am thinking of selling.
