Everything Braids - tricks, tips, and pics

I do my hair like that all the time. I just do my hair in two regular braids using small clear rubber bands and then pin it to the top of my head. It looks so cute and I get complimented every single time I wear my hair that way. :)

how do you make this hairstyle?

ok i've seen a lot of girls at school wearing their hair like...in a french braid but like around the front of their head...so it looks like a headband...how do you make that hairstyle??? i think it looks sooo cute

braids on recent shows..

Great pictures, MulletProof!
I wish my hair was still long enough to do braids like that :ermm:

MulletProof-I love those pics. How do you do it??? I need to try it on my hair!
ohoh609-I know how you mean, it looks so lovely. I just wish that i could have my hair like it. I have a lot of layers so i dont think it would look good at all. I still wish i could do it though. It looks so beautiful.

Me too, i think that they are loose fish tails but i am not sure to be honest. They do look really lovely though.
Does anyone have any idea how they are done?

I was looking through this thread and saw the picture of the horse with its mane braided... I have to do that to my horses and so it's helped me learn to braid my own hair better!! I'm growing it out long so that I can try out a lot of these styles. Love braids!!

I love braids, and I used to wear them a lot when I had longer hair. However, since I cut my hair into a bob I can't find a way to tie them. Any tips?

Hmmm maybe you will just have to be braid less? My hair isn't very long so when i put one in I backcomb the ends a little to keepit in better.

I don't know if it's been said before, but lightly misting the hair with hairspray before braiding really helps to give a better grip and makes it easier to braid. :flower:

I started a french braid at my right ear, and then I just continued until all my hair was braided. I secured the braid with pins. It was surprisingly easy, even though I have very long hair...and lots of it. It was totally inspired by the Nylon ed, btw

those whispy braids above are what we call fishtails in the hood.
which is basically a braid "inside- out"
like instead of doing your braid "towards the center" you do it "towards the outsides" and in less strands.

yep, those are fishtails. I still need to work on how to do them.

Ida - looks great! when you started are your right ear did you work your way down and around the nape of your neck and up to your forehead, or did you work your french braid up towards your forehead and then down around your nape? I can't tell from the pics!
