I think theres Kate Moss for the 90s
Brooke Shields 80's
Eddie Murphy 80's
Brad Pitt early 200's late 90's
Tina Turner 80's
Maggie Gyllengal 2004
Cameron Diaz early 200's late 90's
Demi Moore 90's
Beyonce 2000's

i would not say that maggie gyllenhaal represents this year but i would nominate others for years past like madonna for the mid eighties to late nineties. for many janet jackson, halle berry, and whitney houston represent the ideal for the late nineties as well...for men, i think that guys like mel gibson and bruce willis really represented american masculinity while actresses like gwyneth paltrow, jennifer aniston, and angela bassett typified the late-nineties to early-millenium woman.

i have to disagree on angela bassett though. i dont think she influenced alot like the rest you mentioned.
How abt britney and christina could they be representing the teen era

Naomi, Christy, Linda, Stephanie, Cindy.....all late 80's. I hear see those faces and I can't help but think big hair, glam make-up, diva behavior, Versace runway, glitz.........80's.
