HE'S A CARD ... Flandel sent off two Arsenal stars
Red-mad ref for Gunners

By STEVE BRENNER
ARSENAL have been handed the ref from hell for their Champions League crunch with Juventus. German official Herbert Flandel, 42, takes charge in the Stadio Delle Alpi tomorrow.
And boss Arsene Wenger is certain to be concerned because the last time Flandel officiated the Gunners he showed them TWO red cards.
Patrick Vieira and Lauren were both sent packing at PSV Eindhoven two seasons ago, with keeper Jens Lehmann branding Flandel ‘very arrogant’.
Wenger said: “The referee was more lenient with PSV’s Mark Van Bommel than anyone else.”
It was the only time Arsenal have had two players dismissed in the Champions League.
Arsenal legend Kenny Sansom said: “I am sure Arsene is aware of the ref and he won’t have fond memories.
“The longer the game goes on and the longer Juve are losing, it will become more niggly. Silly things may happen so the ref has to keep on top of things."
Wenger is also aware Flandel is the card-happy ref who missed Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien’s horror tackle on Didi Hamman at Stamford Bridge last December.

But that doesn't mean I don't like it if non-Arsenal fans post here too, I think it would be great but at the moment, it's only the Arsenal fans so what can I do!?

Just don't let barça win the champions league, will you? ;)

A strict ref is actually good for us as Juve is a very physical team. Hopefully Nedved gets sent off early along with Zlatan.

^Congratulations! :buzz: :bounce: :buzz:  See I kept my fingers crossed and it worked:lol: Forza Milan!;)

Stersie, if Arsenal don't win the CL, I don't really care at all who wins, but my friends would kill me if I don't support Barça  so I guess I must support them:doh: but I thought you wanted to support Barça instead of Real from now on, !? Didn't you say that? ( my dream final would actually be: Barça vs. Arsenal with Arsenal winning 0-100:lol:)

At first they have to come through tonight..Fight you Gunners:boxer: ...Beat the old lady and write history:buzz: ....GO GUNNERS!

Milan barely scraped past Lyon. I feel gutted for Lyon. I wanted Milan to win but they didn't really deserve it that game. Houlier did brilliantly against Milan until he brought on John Carew. Good job though Sheva! :woot: :woot: :woot:

And Pippo  always in the right place at the right time

GUNNER TO GONER ... Pires is set to quit Highbury

Wenger axes Pires

From MARK IRWIN in Turin
ROBERT PIRES has been dramatically axed from Arsenal’s vital Champions League clash with Juventus here in Turin tonight. The French midfielder was fuming after being told by boss Arsene Wenger he will be replaced by Freddie Ljungberg.
That almost certainly spells the end for Pires at Highbury — after spending six years with the Gunners and making over 250 appearances.
Pires wants a two-year contract but the Gunners are only prepared to offer 12 months as part of a general policy for players over 30.
The 33-year-old has played some of his best football of the season since returning to the Arsenal team as sub in the epic 1-0 victory over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in February.
But Wenger sees the more competitive Ljungberg as a better bet as Arsenal look to defend a 2-0 lead over Italian champions Juve in the quarter-final second leg at the Stadio delle Alpi. Midfield ace Ljungberg missed the first leg with a calf strain.

Meanwhile, midfield sensation Cesc Fabregas is expected to win his injury battle after suffering a foot problem against Aston Villa on Saturday. The inclusion of the Spanish whizkid, 18, is a massive boost for the Gunners after his stunning display in the first game.
But full-back Emmanuel Eboue has failed to recover from a groin problem and is almost certain to miss out.

ASH 'N BURN ... Cole backs Arsenal pals for glory
By CHARLIE WYETT
ASHLEY COLE insists Arsenal will march into the Champions League semi-finals tonight.
The Gunners left-back, out with an ankle injury, said: “We have a good 2-0 lead and certainly have the players and confidence to go through. We look as though we could beat anyone at the moment.”
England ace Cole, 25, also told talkSPORT: “I am running again. Hopefully I will soon be playing for Arsenal once more — and get back in Sven’s eye.”
