Felipe Oliveira Baptista announces that he will put his line, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, on hold for an undetermined period of time.

Felipe and Séverine Oliveira Baptista created the brand in 2003 after winning the 2002 grand prix of the Festival d’Hyeres. Winner of the 2003 and 2005 ANDAM/LVMH prize, Felipe has shown during the Paris haute couture calendar from 2005 until 2009, as well as Paris ready-to-wear calendar from 2009 to 2013. During this same time period, Felipe has also collaborated with other brands and has held numerous exhibitions and projects in different museums and festivals.

"Felipe Oliveira Baptista was appointed Creative Director of Lacoste in 2010», precises Jose Luis Duran, President of Lacoste Holding. "We have just renewed this collaboration and he is now also in charge of supervising the creation of all our licenses including shoes, leathergoods and fragrances."

“Severine and I decided to take time off to think about the future of our collaboration and brand and re-evaluate its structure and existence”, explains Felipe. “We will most likely venture into another design or creative field. We would like to thank everyone who has supported and has worked with us over these extremely rich and fantastic 10 years. The list would be endless if we would start listing names…(you know who you are). It is a well-thought out and positive decision.
It’s the end of a chapter, not the book!”

That's too bad, I enjoyed his work for his own label much more than his Lacoste stuff. I hope he will eventually bring back his RTW line.

^Same here, I love his namesake line. He is such a master of cool, wearable, minimal pieces. It's sad that even a designer working for a big brand like Lacoste is having problems to stand on his own these days...

i'll be honest,i really liked FOB early on but his work had really started to become a bit redundant to me in recent years….that being said,i never like hearing any capable talent having to stop especially in this already highly stagnant,if not downright depressing, period in fashion. it does sound like perhaps there were some issues with his commitments to lacoste and his own label..possibly even some financial issues reading between the "restructuring" lines.

Really sad he stopped, I've loved his collections over the years.
