I think this "trend" is disgusting. Sure it's okay if your wearing for professional dancing but otherwise, no and why?!

There are new leggings and tights now. White, pink, black common color of footless tights. Leggings in blue, brown, white, and in elastic cuff or wrinkled lower cuff . leg. Wal-mart has em now.

I personally won't mind, or even appreciate men is tights. You know, people.... traditionally, tights were worn only for men, women was hiding under those huge dresses. I don't see any problems with people dress for tradition than fashion; of course, you can also pull it off as fashion.

Personally I still like this trend because I like layering. It's especially good for Fall when it's getting cooler. Also I don't like to expose too much skin so it's modest to cover up. However, i wouldn't wear them in all sorts of colors. I like the mod sort of look of Edie Sedgwick since fashion is moving in that direction for Fall.

To everyone,

I noticed that there is many variations of the legging and tights now. Some have prints in nylon and footless, open stitch( gothic / ska / punk style), holes, most in nylon or microfiber. Others in cotton / wool. I had recently noticed some now in colors like berry, green, brown, blue, white, pink. Some of the prints have skulls or stripes now. New stores carrying them are: Wal-mart, American eagle, G ( something... forgot the full name, but is a small chain store) , Gap. I noticed at G, American Eagle and gap there are different colors and also have stripes in footless styles I think in nylon but may be in cotton or some other fabric.

Not to mention, also, I was in the mall and had been looking for other stores and noticed someone wearing shorts. It didnt startle me much other than it was cool outside like 65-70%. As I glanced I noticed longer socks ( at first) with long basketball shorts. A few moments later, he had quarter socks on and I realized he had on black tights with low quarter socks. I dont think anyone really noticed. I had worn my striped bike leggings out before but havent worn tights out except for last halloween when my costumes of batman for black tights and captain C--- had tan tights. Just a thought. I have cotton, nylon footed and footless tights and also several leggings. Good to keep warm on cold day or night.

I just got excited about this trend yesterday :D There was a mannequin in Bloomingdale's wearing black footless tights (sheer stocking material, not leggings - I lived through leggings once and that was enough) that extended almost to the ankle, black ankle strap pumps, and a kind of flapper inspired, wine colored skirt and top. It looked amazing.

I still don't like the ones that come to the mid-calf, or any color but black. But I happen to have a new pair of black ankle strap heels, so I'm going to give it a try, and mess around with different looks.

That Bloomingdale's outfit sounds neat. It's also one of the first outfits incorporating footless tights I've heard of/seen that sounds genuinely pretty. I'm not a fan of wearing footless tights/leggings under a shorter skirt/pants/shorts. The proportions look off to me and, while I'm okay with capris, capris/shorts over leggings really do make people look shorter in a really freaky way.

I'll be stocking up while they're in style, though. They're suprisingly functional. I like to wear long, flowy skirts in the summer, preferably with sandals, but I'm not crazy about the thought of everyone getting a free show if a strong wind blows my skirt up, for my sake and theirs (believe me, it's happened, and my *** today isn't anywhere near as nice as it was then). I don't want to wear regular, footed tights either because that just looks stupid with a sandal.

They're also great for days when I just don't feel like shaving (TMI? Eh.) and for keeping my legs warm under a (long) skirt in air conditioned offices.

This can look really good, but most people at school wear them in awkward materials (lace for example) or the end/cuff of the tights hits at the largest part of the calf.

I liked this, but when I saw a nine year old girl wearing footless tights, a mini skirt, and an Abercrombie shirt, I dropped it.

I was driving home and I had passed a school on the way. There was a soccer match. One of the boys had a pair of legigngs on while playing. It is colder now at night so the afternoon and night games need to wear something to run in while playing. Also, earlier in the year or late last year I was watching College Sports Channel and the La Crosse players were wearing footless tights / leggings while playing. There is a rule that if your school allows them to wear them, they must match the color of your shorts or skirt uniform. It is in the rules somewhere. Also, one of the New Jersey Nets, LA Clippers and a Dallas Maverick player among many last year were / are wearing them now. Great for sports activity. Ok with shorts if they match color or in slight different color. Also, noticed a basketball player in the mall last week wearing black tights. I didnt notice until I happened to glance around and see quarter socks and his legs were black. He was a african american guy in college with his girlfriend. Thought they were long socks but they were tights. Go out there and play or shop in your basketball shorts and leggings or tights guys!

I preferred using "leggings" to describe them so that I don't confuse them with some other term for them. Here's something I seen earlier today. I think a lady worn some specific kind of top, and then worn brown booties and brown leggings with them. The look was wildly strange, but okay. Only longjohns are the only acceptable leggings to wear in which you don't look overdressed or tacky. I hate this look. Only a certain few can look great in these, however. And I'm still not buying that leggings make your legs look better.

As a side note, these two flats look cute ( http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/1327512-post20.html ).

Just a note, the one at the mall happened to be tights since they appeared thin. The one that I saw the other night driving appeared to be leggings.
