Gary Oldman

t4p, I havent seen that film the whole way through yet, I really need to sit down & watch a few of his older films some time

I read that interview you posted a few pages back...he seemed so down & dejected, also I didnt know he was a single parent & had 3 sons!

Oldman rarely does interviews these days - It is unfortunate but I think his acting roles will become less and less over the next few years - I think he is disheartened by the industry and of course he wants a normal life for his children. It is a brutally honest interview - but then again he is very straight forward in any interview.

:buzz: Gary over-load!

I must see Immortal Beloved- I need to find a way of getting it, quick!

I was reading something about him by Samantha Morton and she basically said that he was an idiot because he wouldnt read a scipt for a movie she was in as it was low-budget, she attacked him quite badly actually.

I usually post trailers to avoid spoiling the film - but I am going to post Oldman's classic appearance in Tony's Scott's True Romance.
Warning - there is profanity, drug use and violence ----
This scene wont ruin the film - promise! It a great film that should be watched though!

^ Wow, he really knows how to make a role his own- he's so talented to be able to switch to these different accents.

British actress SAMANTHA MORTON has hit out at countryman GARY OLDMAN - for refusing to read a low-budget film script.
The IN AMERICA star, 27, has blasted big-budget actors for being swayed only by cash when choosing their next film role. And is furious her own reputation has suffered simply because she's eager to make honest and credible films.
Morton says, "I used to be, and still am, considered very difficult.
"I think, 'What is difficult?' If I'm put in an uncomfortable environment, I become defensive.
"We really want Gary Oldman for a part in my next film, RIVER QUEEN, but we cannot even get him a script because he won't read anything we send him unless we offer him a million.
"I mean, how sad is that? These actors get people to do everything for them and five years down the line they don't know how to pay their bills or even cook their own food."

^ yeah thats it. What do you think about that? I know he's done some independant films which can't have offered him loads- I don't think she would lie but it was a bit stupid to say 'these actors have people doing everything for them...paying their bills etc etc' whilst referring to him.

I don't really know what he's like so I couldnt say, but it would be a shame if it were true.

^ I doubt it is true! I know Morton often 'hits out' at directors and actors - I think she gets along with some - and others she does not. It is terribly unfair to say Oldman is only in the profession for the money! He has done his fair share of independent films - even at the same time as the box office successes of Fifth Element/Air Force One/Lost in Space - he produced and starred in The Contender, The Television film 'Jesus, 'Nobody's Baby and directed a feature film.
Then there was the uncredited role in Hannibal and these days he is in a string of independent European financed productions while in the Harry Potter Series.
Years ago there was a documentary on Gary Oldman while he was living in LA - he seemed like a highly intelligent and observant person who was interested in challenging and artistic roles. Today he is trying to make a life for his family and the big paychecks (Batman/Harry Potter) often mean more freedom to do more personal intimate films and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. By starring in the Batman franchise Christian Bale was able to produce Harsh Times and star in The Machinist and Rescue Dawn. Johnny Depp equally did the same thing in the late 90s so he could direct The Brave and only now post Pirates of the Caribbean - he can make The Rum Diary.

Morton's last comment 'these actors have people doing everything for them...paying their bills etc etc' isn't worth elaborating on as you mention!
