Givenchy F/W 2026.27 Paris

As someone who wishes they lived in a Jan Van Eyck painting I quite like most of it. but considering her strength in tailoring I'm shocked look 43 was given a QC pass before the show. Same with look 37, the back which can be seen in look 35's photo has some crazy armscye pucker going on
I would add looks: 53, 55, 39, 11 on the list of questionable tailoring, it's even more flagrant in the video with the movements.
It looks rushed through the night and finished backstage, and that is not acceptable coming from Givenchy or Burton.
There are also way too many gimmicks but the stupidest one is definitely the detached sleeves, arm warmer things.

Am i blind for not seeing how ugly it is? Maybe if other houses were currently churning out collections in the level of the greats.

The comments here make it seem like shes the next christian siriano, and it doesn't feel proportional to the collection. But that has always been the case with Burton and TFS. She was always either too boring or too fugly.

I think everyone is still expecting her to be like Mcqueen, the visionary cause all of him is there somewhere but obviously she is not him.

I must be in the minority who finds her Givenchy superior to her McQueen.
By the comments I was expecting something terrible and to me this is very decent.

There are still some choices that break the fantasy: the color palette feels random at times.
There is a certain shade of yellow that Sarah loves since her first show that is NOT-Givenchy at all. The Givenchy yellow is more toned down (closer to the one used in the last brocade pieces). Same applies to the almost electric blue, so not-Givenchy. Red should be used differently.

Cuts and silhouettes are elegant, diverse and slightly experimental. In that regard she is miles ahead of the one-note MGC.

She has that weird tendency (also Khaite, by the way) to end the show with one of the worst looks, which is a cold shower.

I agree with Lola, of the 60 looks, erase 20 and you have a very good collection.
Fully agree. For the first time, some pieces actually looked recognisably Givenchy, like the one shouldered gown trimmed in lace. As a whole, the collection is very elegant, and the proportions are much better this season.

I think the biggest problem is that the clothes lack distinctiveness. The business suits are beautiful, but i could go to Brioni or Huntsman for something like that. Likewise with most of the dresses, they are beautiful but don't look or feel unique in any way.

She is trying so hard without achieving absolutely nothing. The strongest part of the collection are the tailored looks, only because the rest is overdone and overstyled. I dont even want to try and understand why the bonnets ? I feel like we have seen this dress silhouette a million times already. Prints + color palette are also quite dull.

It is clear she still has no idea where she wants to take brand. For a designer as skilled as her technically, she definitely needs some urgent help to execute her vision better. This is really bad.

I don't understand both her and JWA's urge to overcomplicate their design. This forced attempt to prove their worth by means of putting forced, arts-y clothes on the runway does not come off as assured, it shows a fundamental misunderstanding of a potential customer base.

Some designers seem clearly unable to reflect their work. They take note of when their clothes appear on red carpets when perhaps they would probably benefit more from the feedback of paying customers…

Please don’t compare her to MGC! MGC couldn’t give half of what we are seeing here.
The problem here is not the talent, the problem is the focus and the vision.

One third of the collection is literally a reworked version of the FW2010 collection.

I’m mean I don’t care about that mess and her bc they’re closing Givenchy boutiques and there are even rumours LVMH is offloading brand so it’s all smoke and mirrors to hide horrible sales…
To be fair, the mess at Givenchy happened a long time ago. She is the collateral damage on it but we can’t really attribute the problem Givenchy has to her tenure yet.

Riccardo left in 2017? The house has been downsizing it business ever since while operating like it used to so probably, there’s a mess in terms of operational costs.

And yes at this point they kind of need to close some stores and to rebuild completely. I think out of all the LVMH luxury brands, Givenchy might be the most exposed to wholesale. And they literally have to educate that consumer again on the brand to make them go to the stores.

And I think it was quite a miss-opportunity on her part to not include menswear in the show.

She should have scraped 10 looks and have some men’s look on it. This would have helped retailers to market the change in the menswear at Givenchy to their consumers.

But well…

loved the casting, the shorn heads, even the tones of the models skin created by the lighting. Serious editing needed.

The invective she induces; i want to see her win 😭

I want her to win too! She really needs to change her team. I don’t know why she is so into her « women » thing narrative when Givenchy is also doing menswear, selling men’s perfume and beauty.
She needs to get out of her little bubble, think about world building and brand building.

So out Nickerson and Collier Schorr.

She wants to work with women? There are plenty around from photographers to stylists but not those two.
Clearly the message is not well translated!

That approach of hers is beyond ridiculous and so low IQ. I didn’t have hard feelings for her in the past but her narrative since she’s at Givenchy is beyond tiring and short sighted.

Never wished her any bad but honestly, she’s as insufferable now as MGC and deserves this flop just for that 🫣

Clown clothes at its finest. I honestly could not believe what I was looking at. Her tenure has been underwhelming to say it nicely but this as a joke. An over-styled, sloppy, humorless joke. The blue velvet dress is stretching at every seam and alone should have her fired.

With Sarah there this brand has no future.

It's really boxy, so the draping ends up looking very "draping 101". If it were hugely edited, it would make for a more streamlined showing. There's up to 11 variants of that side slit skirt, all hitting the exact same spots on the leg with all nearly the same hem length. 5 of the same straight grain cowl, also referenced in the 10 plus reversed collar stand looks. That is not necessary. It detracts from some beautifully crafted pieces because there's all this repetitive crap that downplays the impact of the initial silhouette.

It's hard to vouch for her and support her ideas. Those prolapsed wrist accessories/gloves are just "wtf". Eva Herzigova looks gorgeous though. Absolutely stunning.

I really disliked this collection when it first came out but am starting to warm up to some of it.

There’s a reason why Givenchy by Burton is worn so much on red carpet.

I can easily see these looks being worn by Charlize Theron or another Burton fan, but the styling does it a huge disservice.

No, you're not alone. I think I've said this here before, but I love what she's doing for Givenchy and I was never the biggest fan of what she did for McQueen (though I did love her menswear).
