From Glamour March 2008
The dress she wore to the Academy Awards was one of Glamour's all-time favorite red carpet looks, I agree :D

BTW, that one picture reminds me- she had a stupendous pair of legs, and I very seldom have seen pictures of her showing them- swimsuits, shorts, whatever...strange...

Who did her Oscar dress?? (I should know this...)

"Her friend Edith Head also designed the dramatic ice blue satin dress and matching coat she wore in March 1955 at the Academy Awards ceremony where she won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in The Country Girl. A favorite of hers, she had worn it before at the premiere of the movie and donned it for the cover of Life magazine in April 1955."

She was so adorable when she won her Oscar. She was still Hollywood's ingenue then and was extremely gracious when she accepted it. I always adore seeing the pictures of her holding her statue - you could tell she was genuinely touched that she was chosen to win.

^^ A young star who is gracious!!?? What a concept...:innocent:
(Whatever happened to those elegant days...)

^Sadly they are no more

My roommate didnt even know who Grace Kelly is. We were talking about wedding dresses and I told her how much I adored Grace Kelly's and she had to ask who she was. I started describing some of her movies, and of course I mentioned Cary Grant and To catch a thief. Her reply, "Oh i have heard of her!" The her she was referring to was Cary Grant, she didnt even know Cary Grant was a man!

Hopefully more of our generation is not like that
