For its next fragrance, Gucci has gone avant-garde.

David Lynch, director of &"Blue Velvet" and &"Twin Peaks," has been hired by Frida Giannini, creative director of Gucci, to direct the advertising for the new women's fragrance, which is called Gucci and was developed with the design house's beauty licensee Procter & Gamble Prestige Products.

Tentatively slated for launch in the fall, this is the first Gucci scent to be created from scratch by Giannini, as sole creative director, and this launch will mark the first time that Gucci has used TV advertising for a fragrance.

According to a statement from P&G, Lynch was selected for his holistic ability as an artist, his professional experience and knowledge, his never-ending research for beautiful images, his use of music and his modernity." Moreover, Giannini is influenced by such creativity, and she thought it absolutely essential for the first Gucci TV campaign to have "that magical touch from an outstanding director," it concluded.

^Oh good god...a sadistic part of me really hopes the commercial comes out looking like Mulholland Dr. Lynch is crazy, but I generally like his work, I'm interested to see what he does.

As for the ads themselves, I dunno...I kind of like the cheeky, Studio 54 vibe. Though they look a little more Versace than Gucci in my opinion. Raquel rocks that advert though!

absolutly divine. the best perfume ad in years. aspirational.i want to live in that world .i want to be twirling on that dance floor.who hasnt coveted a huge display perfume bottle? ok , its chanel number 5. but still.BEYOND chic.

I really like Raquel's and Natasha's. They have the vintage 70's, pin-up feel, but there is something off. Something with their pose and expression that makes it sinister and amazing. I don't see that in Freja's but its small so i dont know

Natasha is AMAZING.. they should just run her print ad only and throw the other girls out. Sorry but they don't cut it compared to her ad IMO, she is just perfect for this.

Well for me the three girls, are ok,
I have to say I love freja's bangs and pose...
what's been said here, is that the bottle is too heavy for them and so, and truly it does look so awful, nobody wants to associate the weight of a bottle to a perfum, I mean,
I don't know what's wrong with Frida but she has really BAD ideas, I can't stand her anymore
