Gucci Resort 2009

I really don't hate this bohemian bad-girl thing like everyone else does, I guess. It's not AMAZING but it looks like easy chic.

I miss the sex pot Gucci .... but this isn't that bad.

I don't like long dresses, the rest looks good.

Reading these Gucci threads is like listening to a broken record.

The colour palette and patterns are beautiful and I think the silhouettes are very sexy. Resort collections don't tend to break fashion barriers so the comments on repetitiveness are basically moot. They always mirror mainline, and this collection is lovely and wearable and I'm not sure what else to ask for. The pants especially were very chic and despite a few of the mini-dresses I have to say that I really enjoyed this collection.

It needs to be accepted that Tom Ford left a long time ago.

I express the same sentiments in that resort isn't for showcasing anything truly groundbreaking, however, in terms of Gucci, Frida rehashes the same crap season after season. It all looks the same after awhile. Some of it is pretty IMO, but its been done to death...by her. As far as Tom is concerned, I don't think people would dwell so much on the fact that he doesn't run the label if the current design direction was actually unique.

Just like the people whining that this stuff sucks sounds like a broken record, so does the same old stuff about people "needing to get over that TF is gone".

Did someone mention his name and I missed it, cause I could've sworn people were saying this was boring and crappy without bringing up Tom Ford.

Honestly, if it sounds like a broken record it's because she's shown variations on the exact same collection for the last 2 years running. If the designs never change then why in the world would the complaints?

well.

I have always been a critique of Frida , her lack of creativity and all , but we need to understand , Frida is catering to a much bigger demographic than TF , while I miss old TF Gucci , Frida has her own vision albeit a more tackier one but one with mass appeal and that she has done with flying colors . Gucci is huge in the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia , India , China) . I actually like this collection IN PARTS and found this better than her fall rtw , I have a total dislike for the FRIDA pant , loose in the crotch , wide at the hips and tight everywhere else . The pants here are cut well , and have a nice movement, The dresses are nice and Hollywood stylists will be gobbling this up, esp Rachel Zoe (somebody mentioned that earlier soo true) , I just hope she doesnt come up with a ****ty summer collection but usually , her spring collections are refined versions of her resort ones.

I hate, hate, hate her color combos, especially in the prints. The white/brown/goldenrod is vintage in the worst seventies polyester rumpus room way possible.

Her prints are a bit like an Hermes scarf that's been chewed up, swallowed and regurgitated.

omg so true^^^^

the reason i liked the pants and dresses was it sort of reminded me of chloe , lol , and Chloe is all about youthful and mass appeal clothing but with creativity involved. Who is Yvan??? So is he the reason for the Chloe type feel here?? So this is a Milanese Chloe lol??

I love, love the collection. All the long dresses were amazing. The colors, the prints, all looks fantastic. Love it.

The collection looks reminiscent of Roberto Cavalli. :ninja: The blue/red striped pieces especially remind me of Cavalli SS06.

The only pieces I like are the orange dress on Sheila and the printed mini on Lindsay.

The rest is just the same Forever 21...oops, I mean, Frida shtick.
