Gucci S/S 2020 Milan

Well I can always rely on Alessandro to put on a good show but in terms of the clothes now that's a different story. I know it's an unpopular opinion but I usually like his collections because if you take away the crazy styling and logos, there are some great pieces. This collection ironically feels quite bare and some of the looks were very Balenciaga/Vetements. Overall this was very boring and I'm disappointed.

Looks like I am the only one who actually enjoyed it, going minimalist is definitely some fresh air from Alessandro. The white looks were unnecessary, but the rest was beautiful. Also, please, anyone can ID the music from the show?

After seeing this, I actually prefer when he goes completely crazy – and I am not a fan of his. This collection looks like a fast fashion lookbook trying to copy Gucci. You can see the pressure throughout.

I agree that the vibe of the show was very Prada, which only proves that the only thing Michele ever did was that he slapped a logo or embroidery on the aesthetics.

EDIT: Having said that, I was at his debut runway show and I loved it back then! The difference between this and that is that his first collection was fresh and balanced. This one looks forced.

I have such a love/hate relationship with his Gucci. His shows are always a massive mess, but at the same time I think he has some of the best looks individually (pulled apart from that vile styling) and he sort of makes fashion fun?

This looks more pared down than usual. I see some things I like, a lot of stuff that is weird and random, such as the wannabe Helmut opening section.

The best thing to come out of the Michele era is still this hands down...:king:

After watching the show I still only like the collection but I do LOVE the presentation.

It's definitely a return to the 90's and I'm into it. Dare I say it, but I think I would maybe even wear one of those cotton "straight" jackets. I wouldn't pay whatever outlandish price they're going to ask for it but if it were gifted? Absolutely.

I have to admit that everyone in a Gucci collection looks like they're wearing a costume......but the sad thing is....there once was a time when everyone actually dressed like this......or looked something similar. A time when being dressed like this....didn't look like a costume. It makes me wonder....what happened to us as a society??? When did everything become so casual...and so plain??

In regards to what the men are wearing.....I'm noticing that there is a lot more attention to tailoring. Especially with the men's suits.

I know that his opening for the show can seem like a gimmick or a distraction from his clothes, but regardless I’m wondering what it really means. Maybe it’s a commentary on the stress and pace of the industry, especially with designers burning out, resigning from positions, or disappearing. In some cases, even physical self harm.

I know I am definitely looking into it way too much and maybe giving too much credit. Probably will look back on my post later and feel embarrassed.

The cleaned up menswear( esp the suits )look great , many women will wear those even more so than the womenswear in this collection which to me is messy and tired.

Clearly the Gucci execs have told him to tone it down as JeanClaude mentioned, I didn't see weird fur or bug and animal prints which is a big step and a much-needed one.

I’m not so sure this came via marching orders from the top brass. Michele is one of the few creative directors who has significant pull over the business managers. He’s incredibly intuitive based on my experience with him and what others who have worked worked with him have said.

I think ultimately he decides what direction to the collection in.

I don’t like this. It’s dry, stale, and not fabulous. I knew we would get to this point eventually. When you take away the glitter and excess from someone who already has nothing to say then this is what we’re left with. A whole lot of nothing. Why can’t he just do a pretty and glamorous collection. Spring 2016 was truly special and the best show he’s ever done. It mixed art and commerce to perfection. Instead we got this frumpy old mess. And may I just say that anyone that still puts sneakers on the runway reeks of desperation. He needs to get into a Fashion mindset. The days of millennials and influencers is rapidly (and finally) coming to an end. If he doesn’t adapt it’s game over.

*to take

I actually don’t hate it.

I kind of like this cleaned up Gucci. The menswear, in particular, is kind of chic and handsome in a way. Love the caramel satin blazer with the chartreuse satin trousers look. And there are some pretty women’s looks, too.

I can’t stand his casting though, especially of the ladies. And I also think he could stand to drop to ridiculous social commentary aspect....I mean, that girl in the straight jacket parade with “mental illness is not fashion” written on her hands is just....insanely embarrassing and such a turn off for me. Really tired of getting whacked over the head with the same ideology from everywhere and at all times.

Meh. At least it's cleaner than previous collections. Not so much of that "librarian-chic" or "grandma-chic" look.

It's the styling that brings it down massively. He needs mature confident models. Not lanky soulless models who breathe NO life into these clothes.

These big and heavy glasses with chain need to be used as a mask in a horror movies

I LOVE IT! It's like an elevated version of his debut collection. There's a really good balance between his signature quirkiness and an elegant simplicity plus a slightly couture vibe in some looks. It almost looks like a continuation of the F/W campaign. The colors are amazing. The menswear is very strong for me, I want it all!
My thoughts. This collections has something similar with his debut collection. Love it!
