As soon as I saw that image my mind went straight to Ed Hardy....and it seems I wasn't alone in that.

Seriously, I'm all for charity. But couldn't Gucci just donate the money they used to produce these silly bags and to pay a pop star to promote them to Unicef and call it a day?

It's almost like someone at Gucci is making a conscious decision to make it a punchline...what else could the explanation be?

If they used say.. Lily Donaldson or Natasha Poly and the campaign was on the side of a building people would not notice it as much, however with Rihanna its the opposite. It's so much about being ugly as much as it's about not being right for Gucci. When I see it I think Ed Hardy or something less tasteful even.

Yes, I know it's an ugly campaign and Rihanna does not fit for Gucci. But it is a campaign for UNICEF and well they will get more attention for having Rihanna than a model people will not be able to ID or personally relate to (unless you're well us haha.)

But the Ad itself is ugly.

Oh, I think Rihanna looks fine (if over-photoshopped, who isn't these days) it's the bag that's scaring the bejeesus out of me. Not even LV has produced something so low-rent. (Although there was that year they made those "It" bags that, where I come from, farmers use to transport their produce to sell at the market. Those were LV, right?)
