For Gwen Stefani, fashion is just like junk food. "Music and fashion, it all comes from the same place of creativity," the singer, who will close New York Fashion Week with her debut catwalk show on September 16, told mercurynews.com. "I don't see why any musician who has style of pays attention to style couldn't do it. It's an extension of my personality. I can't explain why I like it, it's just always been that way for me – like pizza." Stefani, whose LAMB (Love, Angel, Music, Baby), line comprises pretty floral prints among the more hardcore, rock chick padlocks and chains, called upon designer Zaldy and creative consultant Andrea Lieberman in a bid to woo critics with her first show. "I don't expect to fit in right away but I do sense that the fashion world is rooting for me, too," she said. "I'm not being treating like a celebrity wannabe fashion designer. But even if I was, it doesn't really matter because I'm doing this for me."

That's in brief what i found interesting in the article:
Anna Wintour, the american Vogue editor call the new Gwen's collection "the new DKNY". Gwen shuffles and confesses, she's still thinking about herself as about a fat girl from the small town who desperately whants to be cool.
I think Gwen is really cool. it's not new, she is not the first singer who makes cloth, but the artistic person is always looking for some new directions for selfimprooving.
what do you think about the photo? I find her really glamorous

I have seen a few of Gwen's Lamb designs on her and in person, and they actually are not half bad. I think her show has the potential to be amazing, as long as she does not go overboard with the fabrics and styling techniques.

she does have the potential to be a good designer if we judge it based on her personal style. We'll have to wait to see what she comes up with after all the proof is in the pudding.

I like Gwen's style, and her LAMB line, but isn't her line just as random as any other celeb line...she doesn't actually design the clothes herself, she has a design team- the same way another celeb designer does. I'm not knocking her line at all, because I'm a fan of it myself, but I don't think she deserves a pass...

gwen is likable, but when it comes to fashion, i think, most of the time,
she makes bad choices. never say never, but unless she comes up
with some amazing designs, i would never buy from her line.

But that aside, I do agree with you. As mdankwah put out, the J-Lo show overshadowed NY fashion week because everyone expected total crap. But somehow, I am not expecting crap from Gwen. Not at all. Her fun and wild lifestyle and dress code will be exciting to watch on a runway I think. I actually am very very curious about the collection and cannot wait to see it...

As much as I detest celeb-designer-wannabe's,let's get this straight....she is actually working with a professional designer in Zaldy-not the greatest of talents,but at least she's trying to do something redeemable unlike so many of them. And for that I do respect the fact she's passionate about doing this. I do understand Helena's sentiments though...somehow I do think the attention is going to overshadow many designers....including perhaps the return of Boudicca this season...whom were a hit last season.

But the clothes,hmmm...I suspect,will be rather derivitive and nondescript. We'll see but I'm not counting on too much. Not that I expect anything revolutionary in the first place.

But let the hype machine begin...
