Haider Ackermann - Designer, Creative Director of Canada Goose & Tom Ford

The nature morte of the black orchid is better than the photo of Tilda. However the commercial is rather good.

Ohhh Kate is wearing the Jacket worn by Freja in Tom Ford’s inaugural show in 2010! Great!

I can perfectly see some mature costumers jumping over to Tom Ford, because he is out-Chanel-ing Chanel.
Two very different audience even if they are not exclusive. The idea that Chanel only sells to mature people is quite myth. Or at least since the 2000’s fashion customers have always been diverse.

BUT, to go with your point, Haider at Tom Ford is finally speaking to the woman who was supposedly the equal of Tom Ford menswear. It send the message to women that they can go to Tom Ford for their suits too. Not that women didn’t went there but the brand was more known for the glamorous eveningwear and satin sets.
Maybe they will steal a bit of that crowd from Saint Laurent.

And of course, the fact that Tilda Swinton and Timothée Chalamet are both affiliated with Chanel is the unexpected Icing on the cake that Haider couldn’t dream to have.

Today I saw two Chanel sweaters from the new collection made with "paper fiber". They can count on their trust fund kids clientele to buy them going forward.

Am I the only one over Tilda? Idk it’s so tired and done. Tbh she’s gorgeous but it’s always the same face, overly serious in expression and borderline Zoolander. She’s been over saturated especially in fashion forever now. Also I have always felt without her his career would never have exploded to the degree it has.

token elite actress of age skinny enough to fit in samples and niche enough to please the happy few still part of the inteligencia holding on for dear life.

that's the part of fashion system does to cheapen some actors aura as well and they are of course flattered, so say yes to every chance it's like a seal of approval from a industry that is highly guarded (once)

I tend to agree. I mean, I do feel like their 'friendship' is more genuine compared to other designer friendships, but does she really need to be dragged into everything?
I understand that she and Timothée are considered his 'muses,' but it would be refreshing to see someone else for a change.

I have very mixed feelings about his Tom Ford so far. It's not bad, but it's also a bit flat and not as brilliant as I had hoped it would be.

Ahaha! At least it shows that the chain of research is working at Chanel. They started with paper embroideries in Couture back in 2009 lol
Sure. I also have a fantasy tweed jacket with some fedex envelope like paper...
Using paper fiber for a $3,500 sweater is a different proposition though...In the olden days they used to use cashmere no?

They still use cashemere but mostly on their twin-set. It’s not exclusive to it but they have used synthetic or « alternative fibers »( as one S.A. told me one time) since they acquired Barrie.

I haven‘t seen the sweater, but what I do know from experience is that some luxury weaving/spinning companies in Japan produce fabrics and yarns made from paper called 'washi' - It has similar properties to linen and it‘s rather precious (though not nearly as expensive as top quality cashmere).

100% same very mixed feelings about his Tom Ford so far. It's not bad, but it's also a bit flat and not as brilliant as it should or can be .

While some of you seem to voice a concern that Haider‘s Tom Ford is not TommFord enough, I don‘t see it really, based on the products we see on the website right now - If anything at all, there is a smooth transition between the pre-collection still designed by the team. The customer who would have bought Tom Ford under Peter Hawkings would not feel alienated by Haider‘s vision, to me that speaks of a good place to start and evolve the brand from - I want to see a bit more intricate dressmaking and maybe a bit more 'fashion' for men as we move forward, keeping the foundation of the Tom Ford wardrobe timelessly chic but also broadening the options from there on.

The better shoes from this season are the men‘s and women‘s loafers as well as the cuban heeled boots we already know from Haider's own collection and Berluti - Hopefully there will be a woman‘s specific boot at a later point in the season, as the needle thin stilettos are a bit overplayed by other brands…

the problem for me is not that its not tom ford enough.. its just haider is too haider. Anyone else who made it his own and did not have a pretty successful namesake would have been ok.

Some cologne bottles resting on a guys spread a$$ hole too. Tbh I think that’s what makes TF is there has to be some kinda playful naughtiness to it to make it not take itself too seriously.
Yes i like his direction it just needs some sluttiness, a nice old fashioned c*ck print. Ps. I love a guy spread *** , it really takes me back to those first five years of tom ford and it was absolutely thrilling and exciting. Also both genders were exploited perfectly. But i do think there going in the right direction. You haider remind me a little of rucci very.
