Haider Ackermann - Designer, Creative Director of Canada Goose & Tom Ford

^^^ ...Or simply that there’s a place for both these types of women— and even many more types of styles that a single woman can see herself as? From the mid-2010s, Alber’s Lanvin of asymmetrical but casual fit, with bold jewelry and the dreaded Louboutin had been the look of The Real Housewives Of types from my neck of the woods. So the more discerning women would have avoided this signature— just like Tom Ford would be associated with that king douche type from my neck of the woods, unfortunately. Haider cleaning house of sorts is a huge relief, frankly.

I’m attracted to many types of styles for men: Miuccia’s Prada, before Raf of course; Helmut Lang will always be my first fashion love and ideal; and Tom Ford and his Gucci and YSL, being the personal preference on how to dress. And frankly, maybe because I’m not wealthy, I can and have learned to only afford one item at most from a designer’s collection that will endure for as long as possible to wear with other designers’ investable designs. I can’t imagine wearing a designer head to toe as presented by the label— buying a glutton load of fashion even if I have a privileged allowance, and following only their sensibility.

I’m not going to wear Haider’s Tom Ford as styled: nylon gym short shorts with a bespoke suit jacket and monogrammed slippers LOL I will wear his leather pant with Prada/Church's/Dries boots, an old grey cotton tee from Club Monaco I’ve had forever and own several of because it’s a good fit and weight, and throw a wool double-breasted officer’s coat by Dries over it— or maybe a heavy canvas trench-length peacoat from Christopher’s Burberry Prorsum. That’s over 15 years worth of timeless fashion. And that’s just for a casual look. There’s so much versatility in Haider’s separates here, even the suitings; women can easily wear the men’s— her man's, and everyone can make these designs their own. No one needs to look, dress and act like icy, metallic replicants as styled for the presentation. But I’m a nerd and adore the Blade Runner films, so the fantasy is a fantastic— and kinky, visual for me LMFAO

^^^ Once I had to wash up before headed into a meeting to make a good impression. The washroom was a small one and very old. There was someone in the stall already having a very rough time; I could see his brogues and pinstripe trousers. And he stunk up the entire room. I had to hold my breath to wash my hands as fast as I could— with every second longer I was in there worrying the stink would seep into my own suit, carrying the stink.

With your posts of Haider, I’m gradually getting the impression that he is that person stinking up the washroom while everyone holds their breath— hoping not to catch the stink.

If what PDFSD said is true, he’s so mean (not Karl Lagerfeld’s diva level) but still 😳
Karl wasn’t mean surprisingly because a lot of designers of his generation were…
But actually very well mannered and respectful of others. I have never heard anyone talk badly of his behavior…And I know a few people who worked for him.

That being said, when it was time to axe someone out, he was ruthless.

i dont lie if you speak with people that worked for him each has nothing good to say ...i did not go search for dirt things just come up in conversation like what you think of the new TF and the the stories come out.

also other people note he is soft spoken etc in public but its just an act and smoke and mirror.

honestly only reason i even speak about him is since he got the TF job because i don't follow his old work nor cared for it .

and i feel sad to hear that people going to work are fearful and want to leave after they were hopeful for this change etc that's the sad part and its not necessary to work like this for what laser cut leathers dresses ?

This i love about Karl i am the same ....when you cross the line IRL your out and don't exist!
It's the only way to keep it moving and have drama out of your work and private life.

Im the same. I don’t subscribe to some of his methods as they are sometimes too perverse ahaha.

Even if it was tempting, I would have never wanted to work for him though as it was too much blurring between personal and professional life (As if working in fashion wasn’t already enough) but I have always heard good things about him.

And when even people you fired or ghosted talk greatly of you, what more can I say.

People have sometimes that misconception of designers. So yes, you can like someone’s work and they can be terrible as person.

So I’m not surprised by what is said about Haider. It happens sometimes. I love his work though.

But for example back in the days, I would have preferred to work for Hedi than Lee McQueen. And it’s not because he is cancer.
Beyond the diva attitude, I have never heard anything déplacé about the way he treat people. Lee was rude.

If i go back i would work for very few creative directors and Hedi i would yes many not.
None of the ones i worked for would i go back except one :-)
I can handle moody and demanding but not cheapness and constant rudeness and toxicity pitting people against each other and racist and sexist you can even have substance abuse i won't look down on you.

but when people get mental & health wise damaged for just going to work its an line and i can't separate the devil from the work results. he not Coco Chanel sorry!!!

Someone i did not work for but i know takes good care of her team is MGC.
