Hair Bows!

Oh mullet, I love the ones from sportmax, haven't cared to look at that collection. So thank you so much for posting. ! :woot:
I want to wear those, especially the ones in the soft colors... and the pink one. ! Yay..

I have a few semi-big plastic ones in soft blues and greens that I use from time to time..

I find it beyond annoying , I've done it for years and I'm particularly angry especially today as I lost my favourite electric blue scarf in h&m. I love the way winehouse wears it but the rest here where I live are honestly just scene girl band wagon jumpers. Sorry to be harsh but that's the way I see it.

It's too "cutesy" for me. Some of the models in the pictures posted above look about 12. I don't want to look 12. I think you can still work the bright colors and textures of bows in a more adult, chic, simple hairband instead. I just read an article about how women need to stop trying to look so young and try to look like, well, women and I have to say I agree. I will definitely do without bows, thank you very much.

I LOVE bows. I hope they become a big trend because frankly, otherwise I would feel like a fool wearing them. I love bows on my shoes, esp. but I would really love to wear a big one in my hair and not look like a moron.

I can understand what you are saying about looking young, but I think that is a much different women's sexualization within society issue. Sometimes people do just wear things because they are fun and cutesy and hark back to their childhood. At least i do. I don't wear "childish" things to look younger. And besides, who says bows just have to be for little girls?

Welll it looks like it is the start of a healthy trend life. Woot! I'm going to keep a look out for some pre-made bows to put in my hair because my crafty side is a bit..underdeveloped.

society .. i think we havbe this unwritten list of rules which is stupid .. and through out life we just take it for granted they are true .. ie.baby boys in blue girls in pink etc. whos to say girls can wear blue ?? .. i think your totally right .. who says bows only for kids ?? esactly .. and no one wears stuff to look younger i think thats a bit creepy to actualy want to look like a kid .. society puts alot of pressure on little girls to grow up . sometimes i think its nice to just wear cute stuff for once rather then sexy... hope that makes some what sense x

I'd prefer that my bows look a bit more demure than young and girlish..

i love the chanel ones. i think they're a little more lady-like than the pink (colorful) ones.

snow- i had to delete one of your images because it was too large and was interfering with the format of the thread...
feel free to resize and repost...

thanks...

we also have this rather good thread about hair bows....
http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/f49/hair-bows-11181.html

perhaps a merge?...

OR
we can specify a season in the title and limit this thread to only CURRENT images...

but since there are already images from various seasons....
i am thinking a merge is in order...

you're right, I thought it'd take a more S/S 08 direction but as it's general, we're definitely merging here.. thanks for the link!.

Gossip Girl is a good source, Blair, constantly wears them and looks so cute but same time very sexy, its all about how you wear the clothes with hair bows.

Alright. Does anyone know where I could find a good quality headband with a bow on it? I'm looking for a thin headband with a rather large bow, preferably fabric.

I know Kate Spade made one at one point but of course I cannot find them online.

I would really prefer not to have to resort to attempting to make one. All the ones on eBay are child size, apparently the news hasn't broken that this might be a trend. I need one now, of course.

I wore a hair bow today with my ponytail and I felt like I was 12 and that was such a nice feeling for one day! :p

Try Forever 21 I know they have them online. Although they probably aren't the best quality..but they're cheap.

I've once known a lady named April. She would wear these ribbons in her hair. The ribbons look cute on her as a whole. I have no real problem with hair bands. Even if you want to look like an oh-so-cute Christmas present or have big hair bows like when you ladies were younger, I'm all for it. Nothing wrong with this style. I think they are complimented very well with cute and fashionable looks.

For example, I've always thought a girl wearing a white shirt or blouse, a black vest, black pants or stretch pants (like from the 1990s), white socks, and black schoolgirl-like mary janes was always a cute look. Perhaps a combination of something like this and a nice hair bow would look truly cute. There's nothing wrong with looking cute or adorable even if you are beyond your elementary schoolgirl days.

As for this look being applied to more stylish and fashionable styles, still no problem. I've considered hair bows a beautiful accesory. Even big hair bows can look amazing with a nice hairstyle to accompany it. I've been fond of more opaque hair bows, though I have seen some nice patterned or detailed bows. It's a great way to dress up your hair.
