Handbag Recommendations

a year ago I would have definitely said balenciaga (especially if there's a current color you love since they're limited to ecah season), but I see at least 5 fakes a day and it makes me not want to carry any of mine. I've seen fake bottegas too, but not as many and they're not as obvious anyway.

Maybe I'm biased, but I  Balenciaga. There's a lilac that will be coming this Spring that's gonna be very pretty, so that's what I'd choose if I were you. :)

I'll say for BV, they are more discreet and less recognisable than Balenciagas.
Plus there are a lot of Balenciaga fakes out there..though most of them are nowhere near the quality of the real stuff, it just takes away some of the joy of owning a Balenciaga for me.

i am so agree with kentucky derby and chiangsi1980. i think the BV bag is more classic and timeless to me. i  it too. :p but it is all depend on you. hope it would help. ;)

Merged this to handbag reccommendations where it belongs. :flower:

Puffy winter coat - What kind of handbag goes?

All I ever wear with my black, somewhat puffy, goose down winter coat is a black messenger bag.

It seems to me that handbags just don't fit with this coat. Am I wrong? Puffy coats are very common in the winter because it's one of the few warm styles of coats out there.

What do others do who live somewhere where it gets nippy enough for a "heavy duty" winter coat?

I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned a black Mulberry Bayswater....or does it come in black these days? It's roomy, practical, logo-free, and right around the $1000 mark.

I would also second the recommendation of the Bayswater. I want one so badly. Probably in the dark dark brown - Chocolat. Truly lovely.

I thought of the Bayswater but didn't recommend it because it is so hard to find nowadays since Mulberry no longer makes it in black.

Hi everyone! I'm rather new here and really need your advice on this. I'm looking for a city bag. I'm really loving the shape of the LV Speedy 25 but would hate to go w/ the Monogram. I love the Epi Leather but do you think it would look too "old" on a 22-year-old student? I'll have to see it in person but do you have any suggestions similar to the LV Epi Speedy 25? My price range for this is $850-900, not much, I'm still a college student. I have a weekend bag from DKNY which I love but it's rather large and I'm looking for sth little bit smaller and lighter for everyday use. LV Epi Speedy-owners, does it weigh much? How about the durability etc.? I'm going to NYC soon so suggest me everything in my price range that's available in the States :) No chance of getting a bag here in Finland and they're so much more expensive here :(

I'm also in the need of some luggage, preferably sth that fits in the plane's overhead compartment, similar to the LV Keepall 55 w/ the shoulder strap. The Epi Keepall is definitely too expensive for me at the moment, so suggestions definitely appreciated! My price range for this is $1000.

Btw, what do you people think about Goyard bags?

Thanks a lot and have a wonderful fall!;)

I really wouldn't advise buying LV monogram luggage if there is any possibility you might have to check it. That LV proclaims "steal me!" Also, the monogram canvas is heavy. Tumi is a very well-respected luggage brand, and you can get extremely durable, well-made luggage for far less than $1000. I like the looks of this one, for a small carry-on:

It's not a duffle, but it's lightweight and will be a breeze to roll through the airports and your hotel. Get it for $400, leaving you $1500 to spend on a handbag.

LV epi leather is beautiful, lightweight, and extremely durable. I have the LV epi Alma, and even though I love the shape, the fact that it's a handbag style is a bit inconvenient at times. I mostly have shoulderbags. I personally don't care for the Speedy because of the way it loses its shape when you put stuff in it.

As for the LV epi Speedy being too "old"--well, you really do have your whole life to get an LV Speedy. It will look appropriate when you're 70. Why not take advantage of the fact that you're young now, and can "get away" with things that won't look appropriate in the future? If they fit your style, think about the trendier, flashier bags made by Botkier, Mulberry, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Luella, or Chloe.

Hi,
I need advice and quick! I saw this bag in a store window. I didn't have the time to go in . The store had just one and it got sold by the time i came back. I looked at a few places for it and today I finally found it. My mom thinks its too big for me. Its easily about 26 inches long. I am 5'2 by the way. its beige and light brown and looks like an enlarged clutch. Its not an expensive brand and undortunately, i dont have a pic. They are holding it for me until the morning --about 13 hours from now.
I'd appreciate your input on the size.

Moriah,
Is it a clutch style bag or does it have straps (for hand holding, or shoulder carrying)? If it's a clutch, then 26 in. is too big IMO. However, if it has straps, then go for it. Sounds like you love it.

26 is massive for a clutch... I'm also short.. and it would look ridiculous... but if there are straps, and you like it.. go for it. I have no probs with large bags...

it has straps...just the shape is like a clutch (or at least thats the only description I have)
thanks ladies

bag shopping in NYC

Hi everyone,

newbie here.. I will be in NYC shortly after Thanksgiving. Alas, it is a business trip so I will not have much time to run around. Where should I concentrate my time? I don't know if I am ready to spend 1000s on a bag just yet (other more expensive things are calling me.. things that require down payments...) but I do want to get some ideas.

so far, Delvaux and LV are winning, but I don't know everything out there. trying to find something classic and stylish. something that will stand the test of time, not go out of style in a year or two.

many thanks!

Hmmm...I am not quite sure what you are looking for, but Fifth Avenue has several boutiques there....

gucci messenger

Did gucci make a messenger bag in this style? Not necessarily in this colour way, but this is the clearest picture I could find. This one is a fake - but I'm not sure if there was a real one like this.

Does anyone know? Thanks :flower:
