This is the striking Hanne Gaby Odiele--you might recognize her from any number of fashion campaigns or runways. In January she came out as intersex, a very misunderstood condition where a child is born with reproductive or sexual anatomy that does not fit the "typical definitions of female or male". It takes a lot of courage, especially in this current political climate, to become an advocate for anything outside of the perceived "norm" (and in Trump's upside down world-- that sadly seems to encompass a lot). I have photographed my share of models, but no one who moves so fluidly & gracefully as Hanne. I shot more frames of her than I have on any single person-- but not because I could not get a good shot, because almost everything she did I wanted to capture. Such a treat. I am slowly sifting through this edit-- but I will share a handful of images over the next few days so you can see her beauty-- inside and out. @hannegabysees styling @luisthestylist hair @themartyharper makeup @dihanfc and huge thanks amazing Julie. #intersex #hannegabyodiele #truebeauty
