Heidi Montag: Addicted to Plastic Surgery

That part shocked me the most in the article.
Her face is going to fall apart before she's 40, maybe earlier.
She'll probably be taping her nose from falling apart.

Imho, she was never a pretty girl.

I disagree with this part. I think Heidi was a pretty girl. But pretty in a generic, bland, a-dime-a-dozen kind of way.

She was pretty enough to garner a few glances if she was an average person walking out on the street, but not pretty enough to compete in a beauty-based industry such as Hollywood where being simply "pretty" isn't good enough.

Unfortunately, Heidi and so many other girls mistakenly believe that beauty only lies in the physical appearance, and completely disregard the importance of a person's internal qualities, which IMO is what makes a person truly attractive.

That really started after she met Spencer. Before, she was a bit dumb but cute, fun and a good friend.

also don't get why people assume she's a victim of men.

Women aren't feeble minded and perpetually immature creatures who can't consciously and independently make decisions for themselves, even self-destructive ones.

But Heidi is a victim of the exploitation of Spencer Pratt. Yes, most women are not feeble minded, etc.. but there are exceptions and unfortunately Heidi is an exception. Her life is well documented on the hills particularly the first 3 seasons... and one can see a clear difference in her from the time she started dating that fool.

I find it hard to grasp that some believe Spencer had nothing to do with this latest publicity stunt. Really? Heidi is the one who brokered a deal with people mag to follow every step of her surgery, negotiated financial terms and made sure the issue came out at the same time of her album? All of this is Spencer's doing... to keep themselves in the limelight and make money...
In some way, it's like Heidi made a deal with the devil... that as long you can keep me famous and clad in designer duds... I will do anything including self mutilation, gyrating like a fool on a beach, make a fool of myself in front of millions on tv, etc... as long as I remain famous which is truly sad.

What makes this even more disturbing is that HEIDI is the only one actively working for their fame and money. I mean she's flapping her arms like a seal while Spencer passively tapes her, putting her life at risk for unnecessary surgeries and alienated her whole family and friends which leaves Spencer as her only support system. I used to make fun of her a lot but now it has become so tragic...

In some way, Lauren started this whole mess. MTV never picked Heidi to be on a show but they had no choice once she become an 'attached to the hip' BFF of Lauren (who demanded that Heidi be on The Hills with her). People like Heidi who has so much insecurity issues should steer clear of reality tv IMO...

Exactly. At the beginning, she may have been immature, but she was real. Her looks were not generic. Why ANYONE would want to look like she does now is beyond me. Ppl that need this kind of attention as a little messed up!

I think everyone who says Heidi is being manipulated by Spencer should read this:

Heidi is a confident girl. Confident and cunning and NOT Spencer’s little minion. Heidi’s lack of shame is also apparently rather fascinating. She’s embarrassed by nothing, she’s up for anything, so long as whatever it is leads her to the top. And she is hungry. Hungry for fame, lusting for fame, and she’s more clever than anyone gives her credit for. She’ll also stop at nothing to get ahead.

Heidi worked the room. She made sure she massaged the egos of every crew member on that set. It was transparent and fake but better than the alternative. Better than Whitney. Because Heidi at least was polite, she was excessively charming, especially to the men, she went out of her way to make sure they would report back that she’s a nice person, that she worked hard, that she is ambitious but professional.

Yes she put herself out there but in the end she's a human being too. What would it do to anyone of us to get on the internet and read over and over that people think we're ugly?

Well for one, she wasn't ugly.

And two, there are definnitely women stars out there who are not conventional beauties, but who are comfortable tnough in their own skin to not care what the millions of people out there say. Maybe if Montag didn't act like a ditz then people wouldn't have felt compelled to insult her looks. Heidi Montag has (or had) zero confidence.

I don't think Spencer is the source of the problem either...she was long insecure before she met him and I don't think there is any evidence of Spencer encouraging her to get such drastic plastic surgery...

Heidi is not now and has never been insecure. Even in what she calls her "ugly" days pre-surgery she had no problem doing sexy spreads for magazines like Maxim and prancing around the beach in her bikini for the papararrazi- -that is not someone who has body issues. Heidi is smart enough to know going for the sympathy angle will get her a cover.

Heidi is vain and fame-hungry. Everything she does is calculated for maximum press. In the book she and Spencer wrote "How to get famous" Heidi even says "Get plastic surgery and talk about it!". It is no coincidence her People cover story was timed to come out the same week as her album. In the absence of talent she only has her personal life to keep her in the spotlight. She has exploited every area of her life-- fake weddings, fake engagements, plastic surgery-- for fame. She wants to be discussed and unfortunately the media and threads like this give her just what she wants.
