Heroes

Universal announces Heroes DVD release date as AUGUST 28th - for both standard and hi-def DVD sets

Both releases will be a 7-disc set with 1.78:1 widescreen video, and English Dolby Digital 5.1 audio ("Dolby Digital Plus" on the hi-def release). Each one also offers an English and French subtitle track, but the DVD version's details additionally mention a Spanish subtitle track, while the HD-DVD's details leave that out. Cost for the standard DVD will be $59.98 SRP, while the HD-DVD set will go for $99.98 SRP.

Universal hasn't provided extras yet. After last night's episode, building up to what looks to be an exciting season-ender, plus yesterday's announcement at the up-fronts that NBC will launch a short spin-off series next season (Heroes: Origins) to accompany the second season of the show, means that today's the perfect day to build excitement for a day-and-date release of both the DVD and HD-DVD of the first season.

ONTD

The finale is tonight! Apparently the last few minutes of tonight's episode is the first few minutes of next season's first episode. I can't wait :woot:

Wow. Wow. Wow.

Dear Lost, take notes: that is how you leave everyone in suspense, all the while bringing things full circle. I feel so incredibly satisfied and totally in suspense at the same time. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll wait until the West Coasters see this.

Let's just say DISAPPOINTING.

everyone pretty much guessed how the bomb was going to be resolved.

And that was the most anti-climatic series of fights I have ever seen. After 22 episodes building up to this, I am extremely unssatisfied.

^^I think it actually would have been a total cop out if they ended up just producing an hour long Sylar and Peter showdown. Yes we were led to believe that there would be more to it, and I believe there will be next season. That just wasn't the message that this episode was meant to portray, in my humble opinion. The bomb was the catalyst that unified all of them. The resolutions occurred because of love, and that was the point of the finale. To finally bring everyone together into a place where, as far as this season goes, they have come full-circle. Had the bomb detonated in the city, we never would have had this cohesive unity of people that we do now. That's just my theory anyway on why it wasn't necessary to have a giant throw down (aside from the high cost of CGI and all that stuff).

One of the things I noticed was the significance of HRG's real name. Giving him Noah, is as if to say that he will help organize and lead them all later on. Plus his whole idea about having home where your family is, suggests to me that they're all about to become a family unit. So happy that Nikki finally got it together (for the most part anyway). Jessica was a lovely little plot device, but newly assertive Nikki makes me much happier. Adore Molly and Mikah together, that look she gave when he opened the elevator was beyond precious! Not to mention that her little hint at the ultimate evil ahead, provides a great lead into the theme of next season.

So much was answered and so many questions and theories are left. I love it. Also, "Noah," is it...you'll always be HRG to me.

I felt tonight was amazing. I'm so glad that they went against everything and didn't just have a bomb blow up the city I agree that it would have been just too easy. I loved the bit at the end where Nathan saves Peter. how beautiful and just when everyone gave up on him.

Sylar. You so crazy.

Also

Hiro is my hero.

I don't even have fully coherent thoughts right now. I just thought this was a really good, unexpected way to end the season and wrap everything up. Not every show has to have some big cliffhanger season ender. I think of Heroes as kind of like a good graphic novel. Unlike my other favorite show Lost, they actually explain and wrap things up fairly neatly. Sometimes thats really nice esp. since I'm gearing up for a brain teaser mind melting finale for Lost. Its great to watch a show that doesn't need to leave you hanging for a resolution. Its very gratifying.

Everyone guessed about Nathan and Peter. Why can't Peter get some guts. He can fly himself can't he?

Did Sylar turn into the bug? He's gotta be pretty powerful if he can survive what Hiro did to him. The guy just doesn't die.

The cockroach symbolism has been everywhere since the first episode I believe. Didn't Suresh say that the cockroach was the great marvel of evolution...I don't know if Sylar necessarily turned into a roach, but he definitely is connected to that "immortality," aspect of the roach.

Ahhhh...
Hiro is my hero.
Ahhhh, me too! As well as Peter, Claire, Matt--EVEEEEEEEEEEEEEERYONE!

I hope Matt's alright!

The ending and the little sneak preview was soooo adorable! :)

Um, I think that meant he needed something... or someone he could bomb towards.

I loved the episode. It was so unexpected though. :) When Angela and Nathan Petrelli said all that useless stuff about "family", I was expecting Claire to say that she doesn't need another one either!
And... she did!

I was teary throughout this episode, when they were about to shoot the little girl, Claire calling her father and telling him "I love you", Claire shooting Peter, DL nearly dying, when I thought Micah was "dead", the ending when Nathan bolted down and when he flew up with Peter. I hated Nathan throughout the season, but I really liked him here. Too bad though... It's kinda late now. :innocent: The ending when Claire hugged HRG and he told her that its the people who make a family "a home", I was so touched.

Ahhh, I wonder what'll happen next season! :bounce: :buzz: Hiro is sooo adorable! And YAY--HE SAVED ANDO! :)

I am so glad they didn't jump shark and make a big fighting finale. They are still people, not Xmen.

I was literally *rofl* when Ando was like "Hiro...you look bad ***!"
Oh I realized that that in the intro of every episode it shows the 'eclipse' and peters boom...so it's been there since episode 1~! love this show.

I think the end was good, i  Heroes so much.

So from what i can see it will be like 24. The heroes will remain, only the villain will change... Very good. Only 2 things:

White (just in case;)):
1) The showdown Peter/Sylar/Hiro was really blah
2) Peter is the most powerful and he did nothing

I don't think Peter lacks in terms of guts (though sometimes it seems that way) I think Peter is just full of self doubt. Peter has the biggest power but he also has the biggest responsibility. He's been given this incredibly huge task, imagine if someone told you that the fate of the entire world rested in your hands! Personally I would faint and probably go hide under a rock. He has always been a relatively passive person, relying on his brother and mother for strength, so to be told that he has to do all this has to be something of a massive shock. Its only natural for him to need support from the people he trusts more than anything. I think thats what makes the show more realistic than most other shows/movies about people with superpowers. Just because you have this amazing gift doesn't mean that you believe in its importance or yourself.

That said he is too reliant on Nathan. He seems to need his approval for everything.

I need to know about this new villain. I love the bad guys  the way they're setting up this new character reminds me alot of how they used to set up villians on Buffy. I love how Molly just happened to mention "Oh by the way there is someone more evil than Sylar. Just an FYI."

Speaking of Molly I wonder who she will end up with. Is it too unrealistic for me to want Mohinder or Niki/DL to adopt her.
