Hijab Chic

Here in Malaysia we held Islamic Fashion Show as part of International Fashion Week annually. We rarely use black though, I think it's a cultural thing ^_^

^i like this thing on the fourth image ...
guess it's what we see on the third image ... non ?

it's like something you add on your hijab and attached to it with an access. ?
* does that make sense ? *

^Like a brooch, holding it together? I see girls doing that, very pretty!

third and fourth pictures are really nice :). I love hijabs adorned with jewelry.
the makeup is cool.

Yes you are right Ida. :flower: Most women here wear their hijabs with a simple or elaborate brooch to pin it together.

great pictures .. i guess turbans don't fit in this topic, do they?

the one of the three girls, two on a bench, one on the floor is a painting not a photo...i looked at it in history of art at school :P

Ah, I know, but I love the way they wear their headscarfs, they might as well not be wearing one at all.

^i wonder if they are all just scarves they put over their heads
some look stitched and sewn.. like a structure.. like a balaclava
are those still called hijab?

i love the idea with the denim

and this might be offtopic but Iranian women are so beautiful !

Yeah, talk about the prohibitions. Girls are not allowed to go to school with hijab in here and you say it's a muslim country....

i think it's because public schools are an extension of the government, and turkey, while a predominently muslim country, also tries to be very secular. therefore, as public schools are government institutions, hijabs (a religious symbol) are not allowed inside.

i agree!

and on another note, this whole thread is fascinating!

actually, they're mostly scarves, we call shawls, that we put on our heads since "covering up" is mandatory, but we play with the rules well, some of my friends will wear their scarves around their neck until they see people who might tell on them :innocent:

when i first when to iran 5 years ago, i couldn't believe how beautiful the women are

and I have more pictures, A LOT, but I'm afraid of putting them up due to a political issues (elections, etc.) over there, but I'll look through and find ones that are appropriate.

I went 8 years ago and I totally agree they try a lot harder because hair is no longer and accessory. I would love to go back after all the political turmoil is over I have pictures as well but they are all film I might scan some.
