As you may know, we at COED have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model. But now the wait has come to an end. After hearing that the model would be first announced on tonight’s “Late Show with David Letterman”, we sent one of our editors over to the Ed Sullivan Theater during the filming to get the inside scoop.

And it turns out our hopes were correct; the 2009 SI Swimsuit Issue cover model is… Bar Refaeli! The 23-year-old Israeli model first appeared in the magazine in 2007. She was also voted second most likely to be on the cover by COED readers, after Brooklyn Decker. So, close on that one, but no cigar.

Congratulations, Bar - we’ll be ogling over your pictures for months to come. (Not that we haven’t been already…)

UPDATE: This has since been confirmed by CBS affiliate CBS2 News, after a billboard of her cover was spotted over Broadway. See the photo evidence here! The “Late Show” is aired on CBS.

UPDATE 2: Don’t forget: Bar Refaeli will be on the “Late Show with David Letterman” on Wednesday, Feb. 11th. Sports Illustrated’s 2009 Swimsuit Issue is available (Today) Tuesday, Feb. 10th, in all its glossy glory.

Im just soooooo annoyed and disappointed right now. Bar has already done a cover, and she's nowehere near as stunning as Hilary. Is it because she's more famous or something? Or she probably slept with the editor or something.

P6 today had an item today saying Dicaprio was lobbying for her to get the cover, and she would if she could keep her mouth shut about it. And just now, Coed Magazine said that it was in the audience at the Letterman show taping where it was announced. NOW YOU KNOW.

Hilary looks stunning nonetheless... though she looks out of place there She's looking more toned than ever, also RED is a good color for her!

Well she is dating Leo Dicaprio so she is famous that way and she is very commercial, its just the economy, I'm really NOT surprised at all with their choice, they need to sell magazines. I wish they would have taken a risk with Hilary, but lets face it not a lot of people are taking risks these days.
