Hi ya'all. I am new to the forum and although I have been lurking around here for almost a year...I finally got up the courage to post and join. Hehe..anyway, I just wanted to ask almostfamous a question. Here it goes: I was just curious to know how the kids at ur school treat you. I would imagine that some kids might be rather cruel to you because you are a succes. Anyway, just curious...and I guess this question applies to anyone who is in high school or even college and they are working on a professional level...ie..modeling, acting, etc.

Peace~

Hmm... This isn't really the same, but a girl in my year was one of the top 7 girls selected from across the globe in auditions for the film "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" (it's gonna be HUGE! A massive movie series, kinda like LotR). Well, she was 7th in line for the part of Susan, one of the lead children, and people were so horrible to her. They bitched about it constantly, saying about what an ego she was, and how stuck-up she'd become (she wasn't). Funny thing was, soon as people found out she'd narrowly missed out on her big break, they started being nice to her again. Pretty soon she even had people talking to her again. I guess that's what comes of being at an all-girls (read: bitchy) school.

oo..glitterybug21 I am sorry that you have to go to such an awful school. My high school was quite similar...but not all girls. Ooo models do tell your stories...I have some stories of my own (actress...)

I couldn't say, but AlmostFamous isn't the only model on the boards. ;) :flower:
yeah!! she didn't mention you!!

My school isn't that bad. It's just ultra-competitive, and there are a lot of girls who want to be famous actresses who go here, so you can imagine their reactions when one was singled out for potential fame who wasn't them. Didn't help it was such a big film either. Plus, she did have a bit of an ego (not mega, though), but who can blame her? She'd always been an extrovert, and I'd guess being singled out of thousands of girls is going to turn anyone's head.

What are your stories, girlwillschoolu? And I bet purplelucrezia has some interesting tales to tell...

 Definitely, but I need some others up there with me...
It's kind of funny actually, but yesterday, I went in through the wrong doorway for a show and the man at the entrace mistook me. Thought I was there to model... which was rather interesting, but I'm mostly just a lost, messy thing.

oo geez..purplelucrezia do tell. o...well i was always quiet about my ambitions...the best success is when you sneak up behind all those people who might have doubted you. Don't you agree? Their is a line from the film usual suspects...something like: the greatest trick the devil played was convincing the world he wasn't their. So true. Once you tell people that you plan on ruling the world your opening urself up for criticizm. Yet...people are smart and they always have a way of finding out ur business.

Nothing to tell, I've utterly no ambitions of modeling. Much more beautiful, and far taller people out there... it simply an experience. I was at the shows as a viewer, but I did get to meet an actual model, who's a stunning creature.

Personally, I kind of dug my own grave by walking around saying I was going to be a model starting around age 9. Of course no one really expected it to happen. But rather than being happy and/or supportive, people became weird and starting avoiding me. It really used to bother me. I didn't understand how since I could be so supportive of anything my closest friends wished to pursue, whether it be dance, volleyball, whatever..I didn't see why they couldn't be happy for me. Then I started working and spending more time in NYC and making friends with people that actually shared my interests. I'm not sure whether or not models or non models are more jealous/catty, to be honest.

People don't try to get to know me. If they don't know me, they believe the stories. My drug problem that sent me to rehab for 2.5 months, when I was actually just working in Milan...whether or not I eat, etc. I've come to realize that it isn't my job to prove every single model stereotype to be false. Teachers that don't know me very well, or haven't had me in their class before, think I'm rather stupid before they start assigning things. I kind of like it that way. They expect less from me. ;)

The rumors and whispering are constant. But I don't care. And I say that, and mean it. High school is only a very short 4 years of my life. Once I'm done, I'm never coming back here. I promise. =p

When I started getting pictures taken.. I took them to school to show my friends because they wanted to see them. All the sudden... other people wanted to see.... and so, i showed them. Then my best friend... BEST FRIEND ditched me and started telling people behind my back that I'd become this stuck up "i'm too good for anyone because I'm a model" type of person... which was complete bull.

People do that sh*t because they're jealous. Plain and simple.
Christina aguilera said that people would be cruel to her when she was in school because she had such a talented voice....
so to sum it all up... if you have a gift, people will be envious and cruel. :(

Ahhhh! That is exactly why I will not bring my photos into school anymore.

If anyone asks if I'm a model, I say no.

good idea.... lol, i remember at a restaraunt a lady asked if i was a model because i "just looked like one" and now when i go there with my family she doesn't leave us alone

ugh that makes me angry that people think that of you. I am in a rush...so I can't really talk in great extent but f that. Seriously...kids are soo cruel. I love that you hang in New York...me 2. Peace...good luck

That's too sad..... :( Stereotypes, stereotypes. Proof that models aren't stuck up : AlmostFamous and Stefanie.

Though it's true that some people let the success go to their head, it isn't fair to generalize and say all models act like they are some divas. Very unfair.

when i was approached in the street and asked to do some modeling i told my best friend (of course) and she became really catty telling other people at school that i was only thin because i had an eating disorder and also that i probably flirted with the scout that approached me!!! needless to say, we're not friends anymore
it must be so hard almostfamous and stefanie but when you think about it, after highschool you'll never have to see those people again and the only people who are worthwhile are the people who recognize you for who you really are

This isn't about me, but my sister Ali. She kind of had the same experience as AlmostFamous and Sasseestfanie. She showed some pictures to classmates in the very beginning and everyone wanted to see them, but then some of her friends started to alienate her. A lot of it had to do with the fact that she was travelling so much and out of school....she missed out on many of the things that her best friends were experiencing. When she would come into town and call them - they already had plans. It is hard, but you find out who your true friends are.

Didnt something like this happen to Natalia V? I rememeber she came back to Russia after being gone and outside the aiport were a bunch of her old friends waiting for her so they could cut her face, but her boyfriend saved her or something...
