How do you avoid green fingers when wearing cheaper rings?

Hi everyone,

just a few days ago I only had one ring, a wood ring, so I didn´t have this proplem, but very recently I put my hands on some gorgeous enamel rings. May anyone have some tips how to avoid green fingers when wearing them. I think it looks just terrible! I once read (maybe even here on tfs) that putting some clear nail polish in the poices that touch your skin helps to avoid the ugly green on my skin. But I also don´t want to destroy the rings. Also many cheap rings tend to change their colour into an weird brown after some time, any tips on that?

Yeah, clear nail polish will do it for the green finger problem, but I'm not sure about the rings getting all tarnished :/
