How do you organize your closet?

I kind of throw everything on the floor. Eventually, I get to it!

But everything is color-coordinated, first by style (short-sleeve, tanks, sweaters) and then by color with white leading the pack.

Pretty simple.
Shoes stay by the door. Socks and underwear in a drawer. Easy.

yea, it was a challenge cause i NEVER fold or roll my clothes before when i lived at home because i had a big closet back home. but now i have to roll up my clothes...i dont really like it, but what can you do right!

Every once in a while I try to organize my closet by colour but that usually doesn't last longer than a week. I do like to have some sort of a system when it comes to different types of clothes, I put tops together, skirts together, dresses together, you get the idea B)

This is a sneak of my crazy closet. Most of my stuff is in suitcases somewhere in my closet and in other closets in the house. Others are in drawers. My fabric collection is on the right and mainly on the shelves that are in my closet in the right that you can't see in this picture. The bottom is like a mess, so I'm not even going to go there.

uhh. organizing closet? no way.
pretty much i just put the stuff that needs to be hung up on hangers and put them up, shoes on the floor... and like jackets go with jackets, dresses with dresses, shirts with shrits..

just took some pictures for another side, could post them here too

first my closet with boots in the bottom, jackets hanging, and jeans/pants, teeshirts/shirts/tanks on shelves, scarves in a boxes and some random storage at the top.
second is drawers with shoes, socks, underwear, belts and nailpolish(no room for it in the bathroom...), and dresses, skirts, shirts and the bags i use the most hanging.
third is my shoes in boxes from the clear box, which i love

I only wish I were this neurotic. It makes everything so easy to find and looks so nice. I don't even dare post what my closet looks like because I'm sure some people would cry at how horrid it is.

On the top rack are my bottoms and they are organized by length and types of bottoms, like shorts/capris/khakis/denim. On the bottom rack are my shirts and they are organized by sleeve length and types of shirts: spaghetti strap/thicker straps/vest/short sleeve t-shirts/short sleeve sweaters/long sleeve shirts/thick sweaters/thick sweaters/etc. I have my dresses/skirts, shoes, and Jackets/coats arranged the same way.

Don't worry, I doubt anything can surpass my closest in terms of downright messiness. (Reference.) And if yours does, then I applaud you.

i am extremely neurotic and i categorize and color/shade my closet completely. i subdivide into sections and do a color pattern of dark-light and then reverse the color pattern to transition to the next subdivision of the closet.

*in the cold weather section I keep all my long-sleeved stuff: hoodies, cardigans, jackets (in that order)
*then i have my tops section: sweaters, collared shirts, t-shirts, "going out" shirts, vests
*in the bottoms section I subdivide into jeans, other pants, shorts, skirts
*the rest of my hanging closet is for dresses (because lord knows that's my weakness..)
*..and the rest of my clothes are loungewear (PJ's, sweats, workout shirts, etc) so they stay in drawers.

I keep my shoes and purses in cabinets in my main room--they are my trophies, so why hide them?!

Some stuff is at my parent's place, the other at my place. I just SHOVE it in the closet on hangers and I have some sort of IKEA dividers for all the underwear and socks and some accessories. Shoes are all over the place, like at the front door or in my own closet.

And since I am lazy as hell, I just throw my stuff on my bed/chair/floor whenever I get home.

Well actually, I try to sort my things out like 2-3 times a year, but after a week it ends up being a major mess....... And I don't actually have lots of stuff cause I throw a lot away (as soon as the color starts fading or I just give it to my best friend).

Pictures of my closet:

I like to first throw my clothing on the floor like one of the post above, . (I have so many clothes it's hard to put them away all at once.) So then I press off my jeans, pants, and blouses. I then hang my jeans in my closet along with my blouses, shirts, jackets, etc. I also like to keep my shoe boxes, the heels go up top and inside or on top of there original boxes (so I know which ones are which), then some of my shoes go on the floor of my closet along with there boxes. Also my sneakers get piled on top of eachother (I also have a lot of sneakers, some I don't even wear!) and then some of my shoes that I wore recently just get thrown near my door. Then the other side of my closet holds my prom dress, grad gown, etc. (I need to clean that side out.)

Not sure which section this goes in so I figured this would probably do.

A few weeks ago I remember seeing a thing on telly - I'm in Ireland and have NTL digital so it could have been on any English/Irish chanel. Anyway, it was about a woman who offers a wardrobe sorting out service and who has clients that are quite wealthy but is now also helping regular people.

The article saw her with a helper photographing shoes and folding up cashmere jumpers and then they spoke to the clients, one of whom was reasonably famous (but not so much that I remember who it was) who said she couldn't live without her.

Anyway, this woman has a website and on it you can buy a wardrobe organisation starter kit and some great looking shoe boxes etc and I'm desperately trying to find out what the URL is - can anyone help????

Oh i saw that program!

The company was Practical Princess www.practicalprincess.com and the lady on the show was sorting out Tamara Mellon's wardrobe who is founder of Jimmy Choo hence the massive shoe wardrobe!
