How do you organize your closet?

I really want to clean out my closet and get rid of some clothing. Start over again in terms of organizing my closet -- that's a good resolution for 2004!

In my bedroom closet I arrange in order from the left:

suits, catsuits, long dresses, mid-length, mini dresses, long skirts, mid, knee, mini, pants, the skimpiest through the most substantial of camis that have to be hung up (so nothing knit, as that would stretch,) increasingly substantial camis to tank tops, sleeveless shirts, tshirts, long sleeve shirts, button down shirts.

Then on the shelves above this I have in order from the left:
cardigans, zip-fronts, misc front opening sweater type things, tops and sweaters that do not open but are typically worn over other shirts, purses

below I have shoes in boxes, but only the out of season or rarely worn shoes.

I also have two wardrobes, two high-boys, and a dresser. I'm fanatical about which drawers are for what. And for those things that I probably will never wear again, but I can't bring myself to donate just yet, I have boxes in the attic.

i have one closet with handbags, jeans, and sweaters. I have 7 drawers full of tees, 1 big drawer full of socks and underwear but i think i need to give it more space. 1 big drawer full of nightwear and 1 big drawer full of tops... gaah it is a lot of clothes.. i have some clothes i don't even wear anymore but can't get myself to clean it out...

I had a walk-in closet made to accomodate my collection of 325 shirts.

tank tops
1 black heeled boots
lots of flat shoes
3 puma trainers
belts
purses and backpacks

I just wanted to revive this thread... I'm moving and there isn't any closets in the new apartment... I loved those images Leyla.... it's giving me some ideas for the new home.

YAY to closets PARIS!!!

im in the process to come up with a NEW design for my new apartment.
the previous 2 are (pics already been posted)
*my boudoir room in the city
*my super modern minimalisitc summer room

and this new project is for the new roofterrace loft style place im making myself.
it should be done by September.

basically it'll most probably be done again by B&B ItaLIA and this time it'll be a walk in closet with sliding frosted doors (cos all the rest of my place will be sliding doors ). on top of that i will have loudspeakers like in any other room of the apartment..
i just thought clothes go with music. i like dancing when on my own

will post pics when i finally move in

PARIS, i hope u get loads of ideas. post pics B)

it's a litte cleaner now. this is upon first moving in.

i'm thinking about painting the shelves a color. like black. or dark blue or brown.

regarding your design ideas... I saw something out of a magazine that was simple and minimalistic. The idea of a BOND GIRL's sleek room, it's white and silver hardware... I just love that idea... and thought to pass it on to you.

I believe it was one of the rooms in the AOL Time Warner Buildingin NYC, where they have different interior designers design different rooms.

Good Luck! Sounds like lots of fun!!! I love the frosted door idea... & music is definitely the icing to the project! Please post pics... I'll do the same... it's going to be after I move which is the end of April but I'm pretty excited!

I love spending time in my closet! I have white cabinets on three of the walls, with rows of them through parts of the middle of the room. The fourth wall is covered with mirrors, that are actually doors that open to reveal MORE clothes ( on a rod w/ hangers). In front of the mirrors is a round couch, you know one of those tufted floral-y things with a kind of tall "bump" I guess in the middle, covered with tons of fluffy, fun pillows! The cabinets on the walls have parts that are open and just have rods and hangers and of course tonnnnss of clothes, and there are also cabinet doors that open to more rods and shelves! There are drawers that open that I put hats, socks, undies, and belts in. I have a special cabinet/drawer wall unit for my jewelry, and then a vanity with a mirror and stoll and yes, more cabinets and drawers for cosmetics! I have some Vogue and other fashion posters in some of the spots where there's no wall unit. I have angeled shelves with a lip for my shoes. The shoes in boxes I put iZone picts of! I have special shelves for my bags and the ones in felt bags also get iZone's on them! I have wooden floors in my closet. A flatscreen t.v. hangs from the ceiling so I can watch shows and movies while I dress! LOL!
