How Do You Walk In High Heeled Shoes?

I wore heels for the first time while outside. It wasn't very difficult since I practiced for a few days. Then again the distance wasn't extremely long it was short. I didn't stumble once (woot). I was more careful with my steps I didn't want to stumble.

The second time I wore heels I stumble twice this wasn't entirely my fault. The ground was really rugged and uneven due to improper construction/street work. I wasn't phase by it and kept on moving like nothing happened. I stumbled a few times in that area without wearing heels so I'm not feeling bummed about it. I swear that place is an accident waiting to happen.

I also walked down six flights of stairs the first time was like walking into the depths of hell in other words it wasn't pretty. The second time I made sure to land on toes first and the process was much easier and less noisy.

For me walking in heels isn't as complicated as I made it out to be. I think having good posture is a good thing and it helps to keep your balance intact. Maybe with enough time I can be really advanced by running in heels.

this is so strange but i just moved to a big city and I have been wearing heels more than i ever used to I just decided to jump right into it and wear heels 3 or 4 times a week as opposed to 1 every other week. I thnik that practice makes perfect in the case of heels I went 13 hrs today in about 3 inch heeled boots. So every one just jump right into it and after a few weeks it is so easy.

I guess practice does make perfect!!! I'm really short so I wear heels all the time and I think my feet have just...adapted to that style (though I think when I'm older I'm going to have serious issues) so it's not too much of an issue for me to walk in them.

I've always wondered, do you think its harder for people with small feet (im a uk3) to walk in high heels because there is less surface at the bottom for support if you know what I mean?

^I don't think so, I'm sure that the ratio of foot actually being walked on and the ratio being supported is the same regardless of the size of your feet. I still keep meaning to find out if the heel height is made smaller for smaller sizes. Keep forgetting to compare when I go shoe shopping.

Some manufacturers do it (the good ones), and some don't. And some manufacturers only change it at certain sizes. I saw a pair of ankle boots that were equally high in size 37 and 39, but a bit higher in size 40.

Carefully. If I have a new pair I wear them around the house to get used to them

my mothers advice: just walk like you've seen someone else walk, or just walk like you've always walked. heels aren't really a big deal.

I've never worn high heels before. they don't fit my feet right since my feet is a bit on the flat side. ==

yeah, I have flat feet too. I have a collapsed arch making sandals with straps too wide sometimes. But that's the only issue I have sometimes. There are never any problems with regular pumps or boots or anything because there are no straps. Even though people with my problem are advised not to wear heels, I think that's mostly nonesense. It's very hereditary and my sisters have it too but we all wear 4 inch heels or higher. It doesn't hurt at all and it's not bad for you feet or anthing. Now, if I wear flats however, it does hurt after a while. I'm not sure why but maybe it's because my foot is slightly more arched (?) in heels than when I'm in flats.

can you get insoles ( i think they're called) where they help you with flat feet and improve posture? I'm sure you could pu them n some high heeled boots with no problem and you wouldnt be able to see them :)

you mean orthopedic soles to support your feet? yeah I have them but you can only wear them in flat shoes. You can't bend them. And if your feet are really flat like mine, it hardly does anything to the posture. It just...supports.. But really, wearings heels isn't a problem, just that sometimes (not always) straps across your foot are too loose.

Oh ok fair enough I never knew how they worked really lol Theres pretty much one thing i love about myself and its my feet so i never had problems with shoes and im glad you can wear heels :D

thanks. I would die if I couldn't wear heels. :p But when I love a shoe and the straps are too loose, that can be really frustrating. lol.

I also have fallen arches and would just wear heels when I went out at night. I recently started a new job that doesnt require one to wear heels but would rather you wear them lol.

I did buy dr scholls arch support insoles and they did help. I also noticed that when I walked and leaned back a bit, I walked less 'clompier' lol if that makes any sense. I felt weird doing so, but I looked good in the reflection!

Noooooo. I'm size UK3/36 and I wear heels most days.

Haha maybe it makes a difference if you're proportional to your feet (I'm 5'0") :p But I don't really think so!

I learnt to walk in heels by just going for it, to be fair I tend to party in heels so I can survive the night but usually not last a minute in the day; the only shoes that I find I have to get used to walking in are my Very Prive pumps an my Steve Maddens which have a similar heel/sole.

Always take your boyfriend with you. That's what helps me to walk in 4" heels, I just hold on to him :D anything lower than 4" is no problem to me...

I don't get why it's so hard for people to walk in heels. You just do it. I always found practicing a bit of an exaggeration. All you need is a half hour to get used to them if you wear heels for the first time. Yeah, some are harder to walk in than others but generally heels shouldn't be a problem for any woman who can wear them. I've seen women walking weird in heels tough.:D Now, what I do find difficult is wearing heels on cobblestones right ladies? :p Especially if you're wearing platforms. You really need to balance yourself. ugh.
