How Has tFS Changed Your Style?

it gave me courage to know that there are others out there who get bored with wearing jeans, flip flops and a tank top day in and day out and want to use their wardrobe as more of a statement about themselves than as a way to fit in.

It has definitely changed my style. I live in the middle of nowhere so it's hard to even buy what I want but tFS has made me look harder for things that I could wear forever (and not look frumpy). I wouldn't say I'm where I want to be fashion-wise but I'm halfway there. I am more daring, though.
It's all part of the growing process as well, I don't buy clothes that don't fit me anymore.

Back when I came here I knew about clothes but I didn't really know about fashion, I came here to educate myself and I have been successful.

And the members here are great at putting things in perspective. It's easier to see through the hype of fashion magazines/industry together.

Sorry for rambling, I have to think about it some more :ninja:

thanks to all - I think we have all found similar experiences here. I think all of those experiences are really positive. which is great....isn't it?

tFS...
It has given me many inspirations and lessons. Well, to sum it up in one sentence I would say that I have learned that personality shines through fashion. And I think thats beautiful. As many people have said in previous posts, I feel that tFS has actually developed/grew my thinking toward fashion and style. To be honest, I dressed like any teenage girl out there, with the mere concept of "what's in magazines must be whats cool, so I should go get it." Its terribly pathetic to think about it now, since I had no sense in clothing, and about what really suited me. Yes, I was just another sheep following the whole crowd.
But one day I landed on tFS and everything turned around. It has given me so much courage. I never used to wear orange, or bright colors, or even metallic shades. I was hesitant, "What if I wore something wrong, or out of style... what if?". I have learned at tFS that such worries shouldn't really exist. I wear what I think looks best on me, what I think is great and lovely. So now, I wear what I want to... and I am more than happy.
Since I don't even have my own decent job, I can't afford much designer clothing. It doesn't matter though, just looking at the pictures, reading peoples thoughts, talking to the kind people on tFS from all over the world, people that have their own mind and opinion is much more than I can ask for. This experience is much more valuable than anything out there. tFS is Priceless, as the Mastercard commercial would say.

dear Lord, thats the longest comment I have written in my entire life.

It probably hasn't changed my style as such. What is has done is make me more sure that I should keep trying, to be less bothered about what the great uninformed think, to try to look at clothes other than those by comme des garcons (!), to realise that other people like comme des garcons clothes as much as me (!), to appreciate other people's clothes even though I wouldn't wear them, to realise that fashion, although not art, can connect people on actually quite a profound level...and that Dogville is indeed a work of absolute genius! :flower:

thanks breatheoxygen - thats a really good post! :flower:

 This is freaky; I was going to start this topic today.

When I first came to TFS (August seems so long ago), my idea of great fashion was Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, and Versace. :innocent: They were some of the only designers I'd really heard of, and I liked the stuff on their websites, because it looked different and cool to me. I was just starting to get really interested in clothes and fashion, and I had very little taste at all. I didn't really pay attention to the cuts or fabrics or details or anything. I just liked anything that stood out and looked crazy, I guess.

So now it's been four months, and I'm a completely different person, style and taste-wise. I feel like I've been part of TFS for a year or two. This place has completely developed and shaped, and is still developing and shaping, my style and attitude toward fashion. I've been introduced to countless wonderful designers I would never find out about otherwise. And everything and everyone here have just completely improved every aspect of appreciating clothes and fashion, as well as shopping.

I'm forever in your debt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :flower:

Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, and Versace

Strike Versace and that's how I felt. I quite liked Cavalli...

Now, I even like Comme Des Garcons most of the time! Shocking I know...

See, guys?! This is my point exactly. It is something inborn, that sense of beauty and appreciation of quality, that feeling of care, but sometimes you just don't have the exposure to it. So, whoever says that it's about where you live and what the norm is, and so on, is missing the point. It mostly comes from the inside.

I have been inspired enormously, especially by people posting in 'What are you wearing today'.

I totally agree. I think people who really have a strong appreciation of style, it is inborn and that once you have exposure to it you can appreciate it all that muc more :flower:

i've become more erratic and expressive i suppose. less held back. but is that tfs or mica summer program?

mica summer program (confidence) + tfs influence = pretty hip cat

i love you guys...

you all make me so happy...!!!

Let's say I didn't care at all about LV. Now I TRULY hate it

when i was around 8 years old every single girl in my school had at least one pair of buffalo shoes (  :yuk: ) - except for me. and everybody teased me because i didn't have them. the thing is i never liked them and i'd be embarrased to wear shoes like that. today tfs encourages me to stay true to who i am and to dare to be different. and that's what i love about this place, there's room for everyone and our differences are accepted and respected.

tfs has made me alot more outgoing in what i wear-before i just used to dream up outfits and never wear them, thinking i could never pull it off, and now i wear them all the time. It's encouraged me to make my style a little more "me", and for that, I thank the spot.
