How Much Can an AVERAGE Model Expect to Get Paid? (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

the day after I got scouted, I was on a shoot for Italian Vogue. I thought I was made for life on that set. In the end, I got paid £60, but the honour of doing it was priceless."

In an article about her recent engagement, it was reported how much Lara Stone was paid for the Louis Vuitton campaign:

She is also the new face of French fashion house Louis Vuitton and recently replaced Madonna in a £6.5million advertising deal.

FYI, 6.5 million British pounds = 10.48905 million U.S. dollars.

I am actually surprised about this. Of course I knew that top models are paid well for blue chip campaigns, but I am surprised that it was this much for a campaign, I would have even be surprised if this was the payment for a multi-year contract, but not necessarily shocked. There was no indication that this was a record breaker, so does anyone know if this is the going rate for the very top tier models in the prestige campaigns? Although, I have also read that some of the top tier designers try to play the "it's an honor to be affiliated with our brand," so while the pay is still good by regular folks standards, the pay for a couturier campaign may be less than for brands whose cache is not as high.

That's impossible. Maybe it was Madonna who got $6.5 million

Remember this comes from the dailymail ^_^

So, I always knew models (unles they're not TOPmodels) doesn't get paid very well.
And for runway shows, most designers pay with clothes, accessorys etc.
But does someone know which Designers pay sth good? Chanel, Dior?
And does models get more for haute Couture shows?

If it's true that Lara Stone is getting paid that amount of money for Louis Vuitton, I think it's for a couple of years and not in one ad campaign. Gisele doesn't even get that much money for one campaign, so I doubt Lara Stone would.

↑ I noticed how most models on the list are VS Angels. Why so? Is this really that accurate? I read somewhere her ein tFS that the numbers are inaccurate to a huge extent but anyway... I'm surprised other top models like Poly are not included in the highest earning list. :(

Poly is making money, but she doesn't have any contracts like those of VS angels. VS (or any contract) is important to a model because for once in their career they can count on money coming. The business is so inconsistent and varies so much from model to model its impossible to generalize. And its a HUGE no-no for models to talk about their rates. So I doubt we'll ever really know how much someone makes.

Most of the girls in the Forbes list have long term mainstream beauty contracts that pays much more than, let's say a Chanel or Gucci campaign. Most models who have ad campaigns are paid just for that campaign alone, so you never know if they're going to get sacked next season or so.

The VS contract is pretty much the highest paying contract any model can get right now. Freja Beha herself could walk all major shows in every city for a few seasons and still cannot sum up to the same pay as one year working with VS. I think Karlie Kloss might be in that list in the coming years, I mean she already bought a million dollar apartment in NY and she's only been working for a few seasons.

I think in general the top earning models list is accurate in terms of how much companies are paying for the job, not really saying how much the models themselves get. Remember, agents and such get some of that money, and I don't think they take that into an account.

I know that the girls who walk big shows like D&G get paid enough to cover plane ticket costs. Thats what my friend told me who is a model

If models get major contracts they make a lot of money
all of the models on that list have a contract either beauty or Victoria Secret
or some major clothing brand...I wonder how much Maryna makes from the Miss Dior
and Dior Addict...she did buy that million dollar apt. so she must be doing pretty well

In general, the higher the profile of the designer, the more likelihood you walk for the "privilege", not pay. Same applies to campaigns. Walking for Givenchy will pay much less than Gap.. a Lanvin campaign will pay far less than Levi's etc...

does anyone know how much an Angel contarct pays? Sorry if answered previously?
And how much do VS models get for their cataloguy/show work?

Ive heard Gisele asked for 35,000 Angel contract but was refused so she left and Adriana is now being paid close to that (for three years). Is it true?

how much do you think a new face at a boutique agency would get for a resort middle designer campaign??

Whatever the model's agency can negotiate!

Not to be flip ... but that question is very specific ... and hard to answer unless you were a model or an agent for a boutique agency who had already had a gig for that type of line. It would also depend on the campaign and it's reach and the label's budget for that campaign. A lot would depend on where the model's image would be shown ... which mags, TV coverage, billboards, labels, how often and for how long?

That is what the agent is for ... to get the specfics and what they offer to pay and then to decide if it's a reasonable amount or not.

But I would venture to say that it would be a lot less than a major cosmetic campaign ... which I beleive usually pays the most ... because it requires and exceptional face and the coverage isuaually everywhere.

oh ok! what are general numbers?
would a big face like lily d get £500,000 for a mid-way campaign?
but then a new face only get £2,500? or somethng?

^I don't think 500 000 is an accurate amount for a top model for a mid-way campaign, I would say less than 50 000. I'm not entirely sure, but it's no where near 500 000.

Your right about new faces, significantly less than a top model :flower:
