How Much Can an AVERAGE Model Expect to Get Paid? (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

and campaigns pay thousands a day.....one I know of payed 45,000 for three days work.

The pay depends on the designer and the caliber of the girl....beauty campaigns pay even more....

Why do beauty campaigns pay the most? Because even amongst the top models - not all of them have the right type of face?

Exactly! The face has to be flawless, perfectly symetrical, her skin must be smooth and with tiny pores, her bone structure defined, in addtion to being beautiful in the traditional way. And then she must have a certain broad spectrum appeal to almost every person on the planet. Very few women have this look ... it's extremely rare. Most models just don't have the "face" ... especially runway models, who usually have a more edgy look.

Gisele Bundchen get paid more than R$ 1 000 000 from Colcci. That's for runway and ad campaigns.

R$ 1 000 000 = more than 500 000 dolars.

I really wish there was a list of how much each model made every season, I'm really really nosy. :ninja:

I wouldn't rely too much on some income figures floating around. Those who know won't tell and those who talk about don't necessarily know.

More generally, when it comes to modeling it's important to consider a whole fiscal year and compare the annualized income to other jobs. A USD 5000.00 photoshoot sounds nice but if you don't do anything else during a couple of months it's a very low average income and expenses don't wait.

For the average young model, modeling should not be primarily about money. It's far more about a unique life experience, opportuntiies to become independant at a young age, to travel and work abroad, enjoy other cultures, meet interesting people, partying... (maybe that one I shouldn't have mentioned LOL).

Note:
An average model doesn't get paid USD 5000.00 for s imple photoshoot, that amout in the example above is related to the commercial use of the images (ad campaigns etc.).

I've toyed with the idea of modelling after I finish university, but stories of all the low income put me off especially since my family has a stable income and it would be a shock to me...anyway who knows maybe I'll give it a try in 2 years or so....

How much do models get paid for walking the runways? say like top models ? girls who do over 50 + shows during fashions weeks in NY Milan Paris must maketons of money karlie kloss bought a $mil apartment in new york and shes is JUST 15 so im guessing they must be making ALOT?

The pay varies so widely between models there is no way to estimate how much "a model" makes. I work big professional services firm and we handle the accounting, taxes, and other financial services for a couple of big agencies and a bunch of smalls ones as well. I've seen pay differences as big as $7,000 for girls walking in the same show. Also depends on what country they are working in. Taxes in some countries are insane, and agencies in some countries take a huge cut.

karlie is not 15...shes like 18 now..17 or 18...
either way in europe girls are not payed only in clothes, guys either. its the law, they have to get money. in the US they can just get clothes or a gift card to the store but big shows pay, like DVF, MJ, zac, etc etc.
also the figures ive heard for campaigns is kinda insane. even girls starting out, their rates are like 1500 per hour. even after taxes and comish-modeling is big money for normal people like you and me. walking away from a photoshoot 700$ richer is big money to me, what about you?

Like another model stated, the pay for runway work varies greatly. Runways are the most exhaustive job a model can take on and they pay the least as well. Further more the models used for a runway show is highly mixed, semi-beginners are very often blended with top models. Some moderately inexperienced might score €2 000 while someone with more star quality get three times that amount. Bare in mind that getting drafted for a runway show is a previlage exposure is a big chunk of the pay.

A decent fashion show costs easily several ten thousand EUR or USD, for larger ones it can be several hundred thousand. It's far more expensive than most would imagine.

Advertisement campaign budgets can be in the same range and sometimes even much higher (up to several millions) so, compared to the total project budget, model fees are not necessarily an important part, at least not unless there are celebirities involved. But for example if a complex photoshoot fails due to the model(s) it can cause losses which are far beyond the model fees. Even if you reshoot, time is still money and delays are often tight. Not even to mention that you can lose the client.

Model income figures are tricky to compare because in many cases those who talk about don't know and those who know know why it's better to not talk about some things. Also most important is to consider the real average net income over a fiscal year. Most girls earn less than someone working in an office or so simply because their income from modeling is all but steady.

You think???? Here's one for you....

Get up at 5:30 am and drive for 3 hours to the middle of nowhere. You get there and go through makeup and styling, climb a cliff about 20 feet up,spend two hours doing this shot, then climb down and change because for the next shot you're going to walk off into a lake and freeze your a** off....another couple hours for this shot then clean up and change into a new outfit so that you can climb up a hugh tree and spend some time hanging onto it to get the right shot....climb down, change and head off into a hugh field of waving grass...where you have to stop every 15 minutes or so to have someone pick the tics off of you.....end of day 9:00 pm.....then you have another three and a half hour drive back from the boonies on some back country roads till you get back to civilization.

The paycheck for this editorial shoot...$150.00 for the day...no gas, food or hotel money.

Who's fault is this???? The agency.....the client or the model who can't say..."thanks but no thanks?"
