How Much Sleep Do You Get?

I wish I could say nine but it's usually more like 5 or 6
lol, though I did discover this summer that I can actually sleep for fourteen hours straight :P even though it made me terribly lethargic

im not getting any right now. it's partly my own fault. too many essays, too much reading for class, not doing enough work in the daytime (shopping instead) so i work into the night, etc. But i just can't work in the day. at night it's really quiet so it's great-in the day all i do is read fashion magazines, come on tfs, shop... it's my way of juggling the two.

I have severe insomnia. I just cannot calm down! Last night . Bed about 6am and up at 10am. My average is asleep 4-5am and up 10am. only if i'm lucky! I am seriously worried actually. I am 20 so I do not know if it will affect health but i have been like this my whole life.

I need a 36 hour day so I can get 8 hours of sleep. I have to stay up late to get everything done and get up early to get a head start on the day. Right now 6 hours sleep if I'm lucky.

8 hours usually, which is good, though lately I've only had about 6 hours a night...and it's starting to show. I feel very drawn and peaked if I don't get enough sleep.

Not enough. I try to get at least 7 hours per night, but lately I've been deluged with work and finals, so it's either about 6, 5, 4 hours, or none at all...very very bad. but vacation starts tomorrow, so it's going to get better.

I'm so bad with my sleep patterns. Actually, I have none. During the school week, I get like 2-5 hours of sleep a night. During weekends, I'll sleep like 12-13 hours a night. I need to get on a schedule, because I feel like crap.

^ same here... I get terribly irritated by the smallest things... I slept alot today but I still feel ...

Sooooo not enough!
i'm lucky if i get 8
but i used to be wracked with insomnia
and now i'm affected by from living in a high-rise (i'm extremely sensitive to noise)
so more often than not, i get 5-6 (or less) which is horrid.

i'm sorry to hear about your situation SOFT GREY - that's awful.
i had a noisy neighbour for 4 1/2 yrs. and i was going nuts.
The last year i lived there, my new boyfriend (hubs-to-be) went over
and had a good word with the neighbour, and magically, the noise disappeared!
i hope somehow it's resolved before legal action. Must be really stressful for you.

Erm.... back to meeee....
:brows:
i'm also an early riser
i'm up with the sun... so that's usually 6 or 7am (sometimes 5:30)
doesn't matter what time i go to bed..
eg. i could go to bed at 3 or 4am and still get up at 7am - aaaaugh!

Insomnia tips:
- St. John's Wort (oil capsules) - great for calming down the chatter-box in your head. Takes 3 weeks to start working. May need 2 capsules at night. St. John's makes you photo-sensitive, so you'd have to use sunscreen during the day.
- 5HTP or L-Tryptophan - helpful at night.
- Valerian.
- check out your thyroid/adrenal glands. If your thyroid is not functioning well, you'll wake up during the night. If your adrenal glands are shot, then no matter how much sleep you get, you won't feel rested at all
- have a set time when you nod off, and a set time to get up, so you have a nice routine.
- white noise is lovely - eg. a fan.
- i know earplugs work, but for me not yet, they bug me (silicone or foam or plugs).

My solution in the future would be to move out of this high-rise: living in high-rise/near high-rises is problematic b/c antennas are usually attached for cell-phones etc. - i truly believe the radiation from these antennas interferes with brain/sleep function. i've slept wonderfully in places that were nowhere near high-rises.

hope we all get more sleep/better sleep.

On school days, 8 hours. I'm still terribly tired though (I think it's not because I don't get enough sleep, it's because I have to get up early.)

On weekends, I like to sleep for about 10-11 hours. Ahh, bliss.

Nobody gets enough sleep! I know, it's sooo hard when you have a full schedule.

I put down 9-10 hours for mine. I graduated before summer, and don't have a job yet, so my days are pretty empty... but I operate perfectly with ten. I've always needed plenty of sleep in the past. I hate that my body requires it.

have you tried seeing a doctor? a friend of mine had terrible insomnia, and she went to see a few specialists - I'm not sure what they did, but she's gotten much better :flower:

Yep, I guess that's why I do it. There's always something I want to do. Just not enough hours in a day...

5-6 hours on average.

its not unusual for me to have less tho, sometimes i can go two days without any sleep... not that i chose to, i have insomnia and nothing i've tried has worked to correct it

Now that I have finished school i get around 9 if im working 10 if im not... i love my sleep, im a cranky bum if i don't get enough :D :P
