Does anyone have any tips on how to cut your own bangs. I don't currently have them, but want a change without going short. Should you cut them wet or dry? Straight across or choppy. I want long bangs and have very thick hair. Any tips? Thanks so much!! :flower:

This is a very funny topic... since I just did this.

I cut them dry and straight across.

Just brush the hair in front of your eyes... and cut...

My best tip to you would be to make sure you don't cut your bangs too short. :ninja: :flower:

I did that two weeks ago! I was so mad, and still am...

That's a good tip, though, to cut them dry. In fact, many hair stylists actually say that a dry cut is better than a wet cut because w/ dry they can see how your hair lays naturally.

Don't wet cut! In fact.. I dont reccommend cutting your own bangs.. they're so important if you have them...

and if they're messed up, you're screwed...

Back when I had a fringe, I always cut it wet. It is easier to get it straight that way. Just be sure to cut it about .5cm longer than you think it should be, because when it is wet, it hangs down further. When it dries, it will kind of fluff up and will look slightly shorter. If you wear your fringe at all thick, it will be very obvious if you cut it too short or cut it crooked.

I perfected my method when I had long bangs a few years ago. :smartass:

I would mist the hair that you want as your bangs before cutting. Not soaking; just dampening.

Then, take the hair in your hands and twist in one direction. Not tight enough to curl up and cut across the twist with sharp shears ( <--- I think that is super impt)

This method really worked for me. The bangs are not too rigid and straight across, but not so choppy that they can still look precise and slick if brushed to the side.

This make me want to cut bangs again :flower:, and they only recently grew-out

Thanks for all your wonderful tips guys. My boyfriend cut them! He really did a nice job and I like them alot. He cut them dry.

My stupid ex-hairdresser did a huge mistal¡ke last frifay wth my hair... snif snif it's really sad... I look like tina turner...
The only good thing is that I definitely look 10 cm taller... at least my hair does!

snif snif (crying)

Oh, this thread is great!
I love bangs but I'm not brave enough to cut them myself! I'm going to the hairdresser...
Thanks for the tips! :flower:

Forgot to ask...how about the rest of the hair...parted in the middle?

i absolutely agree with that

I cut my bangs sometimes but I am too scared to even try cutting my own hair...I rather pay a fortune for someone to do it than for me to f*ck up royally on mine.

My advice would be to go to a good hairdresser.Everytime i
cut my bangs they always ends up looking so bad.
When u go and get them cut, everything is in perfect line.

To cut it dry it's a good one, but don't forget to not cut too much, unless you want to. I cutted my bang for a long time, a long time ago... TRUST ME! I once did cut too much and looked like a cousing from the Addam's family.

I've cut my own bangs numerous times, I cut it and hold it between my index and middle and snip in little V shapes. The results are not bad but takes too damn long and the hairdresser can defintely cut it better. Most hairdressers offer free trimming of bangs. Just call ahead so they can squeeze in a few minutes into their schedules.
