How to look stylish on a bicycle?

what i'd like to find more than anything is a stylish alternative to the sporty helmet...
they just aren't cute...
and i don't think it's wise to go out on a bike without a helmet...

those regular safety sports ones just aren't stylish or cute though...
:ermm:..

i keep seeing people with different types of helmets, trying to look better, i guess...
i even saw one guy with a riding helmet in the city...
unfortunately, it still didn't look cool...
...

What about something like this softgrey? It's cute ^_^

There's the new philip lim 'girls on bikes' video from the fall/winter campaign
http://vimeo.com/26575760

though I have to admit I am ten times more enthusiastic about the vintage bike ride in Paris!! it seems to be soo much fun in the vimeo video :)

I commute by bike for years by now and the only dressing rule I propagate to follow without any exception - ever - is waterproof mascara.

as it comes to helmets, I guess outside of scandinavia they're simply necessary. and there is no way around it, they're mostly tremendously inconvenient fashionwise. if you find one that doesn't look completely ugly it still ruins or severely limits your hairstyle:ninja: well but that's still better than a crashed skull bone...

but you one is reimbursed for that by all the fun you can have with the bike as a fashion assessoire. by now there so many super stylish bikes, saddles, baskets etc.

and anyway I never really thought about special outfits for riding my bike - if you have a long skirt, simply tuck it in/up (I personally always feel like in a Vivane Westwood dress when I do that ;)) and I have some heels in which I prefer to ride my bike than to walk  though I usually change shoes, because they get so dirty and easily ruined on a bike, but hey that's what the basket is good for.

in a nutshell: bikes are great:lol:

I am having the same helmet-related dissappointment. It is really difficult trying to do something with your hair if you're going to wear one. (I'm not actually on a bike, but roller skates)
But that's not the only inconvenient. Other than that, there's not a wide range of styles, at least not the ones that covers the back of the neck. So I'm thinking about doing a funky cover, so I could exchange it as any other piece of clothing. Then, I found they do sell covers! Again-not a lot, and pretty plain.
It was all joy until I saw THIS:
