How to look stylish on a bicycle?

I'm starting to think seriously about that basket. I am planning on biking to class this summer, and am not sure if I will have lots of books or what. Plus it would allow me to do better grocery runs at the farmers market.

I need a nice leisure bicycle! Nothing that looks too sportsy. :flower:

Whaddaya all know?

What is your budget? Are you looking Used or New?
Torker KB2s are pretty great, as are Linus. I like to browse bikesdirect for ideas. They have cheap bikes, I know they ship domestically in the US, I don't know about other countries though.
I love shopping for bikes for people, so this will be fun.

if you're biking to class then it would be a good idea to get the basket, unless you're gonna carry a back pack. That's what I've been doing until I find te perfect pannier.

I already carry a backpack, the thing is I feel that with a basket, I would not be so limited with my handbag choice. I could wear a Shoulderbag, but just toss it in the basket, or double my load with my big backpack and the basket, should it be necessary. This is my daily bike bag, I love it:

Then the basket is the way to go, it does open up a lot of options for your rides. And your backpack is so cute, I got a regular one from my college days...

I thought that this picture was cute:

finally, watching tv pays off!

I saw a commercial for Schwinn. :buzz: My kind of bike!

Cruiser bikes are right up my alley. ^_^ Wee.

I suggest the two on the right, beach style cruisers are not very user friendly! They're all very cute!

It might be obvious, but I spend a lot of time online obsessing over bikes. I kind of want a new one, even though every time I ride my Terry, I find new reasons to love it. It's kind of like wanting a new car, or a handbag. The Linus Mixte 3 speed is really cute:

You have a traditional geometry frame with the Terry so I say go for it and add the low-step Linus to your stable. You'll love it and it is very casual and feminine.

My bikes have no chain ring guards similar to the way that Linus is configured so I wear 3/4 pants or roll up the right leg if I'm not wearing shorts.

Shoes and pedals are critical in my daily cycling life as I prefer being clipped in at all times. I have shoes that look like regular lace-up walking shoes but with concealed cleats in the soles. The cleats are compatible with Crank Brothers Eggbeater pedals. Some of those pedals have platforms suited for times when you ride with regular shoes or sandals without cleats.

The crash also fractured my TREK Interval helmet:

That was the third time a TREK Interval helmet saved me from head trauma. I also have life insurance.

Lucky you! I only have catastrophic coverage.
Those cleats look really cool. I just ride with toe cages. I dunno, I wish I had room for a second bike in my stable, I really don't at the moment. Sigh.

Things can get crowded:

That is a utility room in our apartment. The three in front are mine and the one in the background is my wife's road bike. I got her a TREK 1000 WSD a few years ago.

When my old Mercury sedan died I salvaged the bike rack and made it into a maintenance stand hanging on a fence around our patio:

I did a 25 mile ride on Saturday, feeling pretty good about that, then last night the boyfriend did 5 laps around Prospect park or something, that's roughly 16 miles, and he is all 'hoo ha, I am so fit!' um, sure. I washed the jeans I had on for my Saturday ride, and lo, there is a giant hole in the thigh now, it must be from my bike seat. I'm so bummed. Really can't buy a new pair of jeans right now.

I rode my bike to Yoga today wearing a romper with my yoga leggings and a tank top underneath. It's already getting too hot for much else.

Good for you both cycling dense urban. Keep riding those distances and beyond regularly and welcome to saddle sore mitigation judgment days.

I did a 56 mile ride yesterday and feeling pepper sprayed for it as so much sweat poured into my eyes even hours later my eyes are bloodshot and stinging.

I try to do 200 or more miles a week on the road. It doesn't always happen for various reasons--extreme weather, illness, mechanical failures, job demands. Some weeks I take advantage of good luck and push it above 250 but that usually happens only in the long days of summer...
