do any of you remember many years ago when a little leathergoods brand called HUNTING WORLD was among one of the top luxury handbag and accessories designers??? i really like their bags...they're stylish, classic and durable... i have one that was my sisters in the 80s and i love it so much. i had no idea they were even still in business until i did a google search on the brand and found out that they indeed are, and have a boutique in new york which i want to visit. they've got a few pieces that i want like a nice wallet, and travel bags and totes...

a brief history on the brand:

From one man's love of adventure and passion for wildlife conservation came the inspiration for Hunting World.

It all began in 1955, when a young Bob Lee made his first trip to Africa. Struck by the awesome beauty and magnificent wildlife, he decided to return one day and open his own safari organization. And so he did just four short years later.

Most of Mr. Lee's clients arrived with luggage and camera bags which were woefully ill-suited for the bush, so be began to design functional gear to lend them and had it manufactured by a sail maker in Luanda, Angola. But he didn't stop there. He also redesigned the entire safari outfit - from tents to camp furniture - to provide more comfort and easy transport. Inevitably, the clients wanted to buy the equipment at the end of the expedition and thus, Hunting World was born.

His years of designing and manufacturing gear for his safari clients had uniquely prepared him for his next venture: Hunting World. After all, he lived the adventure and had first hand knowledge of what was needed, and most importantly, what had worked. Mr. Lee's innovations in safari equipment and continue to be the standards by which other designs are judged.

From the very beginning, Hunting World has been dedicated to designing the highest quality products. Our team shares a dedication to conservation, exploration and education. Our philosophy is best expressed by our logo, the tuskless baby elephant, a symbol of rebirth and renewal.

Today, Hunting World has taken the designs of Bob Lee's safari gear and modified them to meet the needs of the urban jungle. From handbags and travel cases to carry-alls and waist packs, Hunting World helps Keep the Adventure Alive.
