I agree, Lena.

I was just trying to think of a way to explain these prints... However feeble my attempt was.

i know.. its a weird choice of print
and thank you for discussing this here.

no-one was is paying attention in this little Chalayan 'detail'
but for me, its extremely interesting.. i went when i saw
the photo at style.com frontpage
(the photo was quite big so i could see the guy in uniform up close,
it was scary and silly on the same time..)

I belvie fashion is an expression, of an artistic vision, personally i'm glad to see politics in fashion, we can't pretend its not happening, we can promot change through art, i think its a extreamly good thing. I'm very glad to see deisgners commenting on the state of the world.

HUSSEIN CHALAYAN : PLACE TO PASSAGE

Clothes that turn into tables, chairs, kites and airplanes (OK, the last one's not literally true)... Hussein Chalayan has frightened off many a fashionista with his daring conceptual designs which, it has been complained, look frightfully clever and avant-garde on the catwalk, but more like a sackcloth on (it's all about the right attitude, darlink). But creative understanding has come in the unlikely form of Tribe Art, an arts organisation sponsored by the BAR Honda Formula 1 racing team, who have commissioned Chalayan to make a conceptual project sans commercial pressure. Just one catch: there has to be some connection to Formula 1. Chalayan has duly made his own racing car, but -- don't jump the gun -- it doesn't turn into a dress. Instead, it turns into a Blade Runner-style flying machine that takes its model passenger on a never-ending, virtual journey through 3-D city-/landscapes. The film, place to passage, has been made in collaboration with spatial research lab neutral, and will be shown as a multi-screen installation in the appropriately utopian-sounding Z Building.

Here's a request only the Fashion Spot can answer!
Today I bought a Hussein Chalayan jacket from the A/W 04-05 menswear collection (£9.95 Cancer Research), it has a large label with the concept typed on it in the lining, it's a beautiful jacket.
Was wondering if anyone has any photos of this menswear collection, because google is failing me miserably! Would highly appreciate.

oh boy....sadly the first two seasons into his debut menswear is hard to come by since they were pretty low-key non-showy affairs. the only images that i remember at the time were on his web site but they seem to be gone now since he's made over his site and pitti immagine only covered the debut. try getting hold of his book....the most recent rizzoli edition because i think it contains those first seasons.
