"I GOT IN!" ... Announce acceptance of your Fashion School Appications here.

My school didn't submit midterm marks for early acceptance (I would've most likely gotten in.) :ninja:
 That's terrible. Where did you apply to? You probably still have a very good chance of getting in.:flower: If I had applied regular, I wouldn't have been accepted. Everyone was still shocked that I got in ED round.

I applied to Ryerson for Business Management, Guelph for Business Administration, and Ryerson for International Economics & Finance.

I can still get all three choices.. it's not really that competitive.

I think the reason they didn't send them in is because really maybe only 30 people in my high school will actually go to university, so the gudiance department doesn't care enough to send in early marks, and also only a few universities give early acceptances - most of them want final grades before making decisions.

 It's one of their duties as a school to send in your marks. It shouldn't matter how many kids apply early or not. I'm guessing those schools are Canadian? I don't know how the application process works in Canada, but in the U.S. that could really screw you over. If that had happened to me...:ninja:

I hope everything works out ok, but it sounds like you'll be fine regardless.:flower:

Most Canadian universities are laidback with their admissions.. some will even wait for upgraded marks from summer school and still take you in.

And thank you for your kind words!:blush:

Btw, what program did you apply for at UPenn?

God I wish the U.S. was like that.

I didn't apply to a specific program. Too smart for me. If I could, I would have done the Vagelos program (business and life sciences). I'm enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences. ^_^ I just sent in my first deposit today!:woot::heart:

Thanks! Let me know when you hear back! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you regardless!^_^

I almost had a nervous breakdown when I realized the Parsons deadline was February 1st, NOT March 1st as I had beleived. Now my portfolio time is cut in half.

I have literally 2 more weeks to cough up a couple more portfolio pieces.

That's the one thing (okay, only thing) that's good about being a junior... no applications yet!

UM! lol. i'll be choosing parsons no matter what the cost, cauuuuse most big companies nowadays (Chanel cough cough) has the ability to actually help pay off your college tuition! also, i'm pretty confident with myself

Well, Parsons does offer some kick @$$ connections... which is good, considering you'll need them to pay off those endless debts!

I don't think I could go to a fashion or art college, probably because I don't even really know what I want to do with my life.

Same problem here I know I want to work at a NY mag but the money is an issue
I need things and I just think that being broke for years aint to cute. But I will try anway.

I feel you on the money issue, but the way I see it. I'll only apply if the whole package seems worth it. Either...
-respectable and affordable
-awesome financial aid packages
-can send you on your way to a good enough career to pay off those loans

That's why I applied to a few impossible schools and now I'm going to apply to an in-state uni.

But since I'm taking a Gap year (on an exchange program) after graduation this spring I can't decide if I want to try to apply again next year or get an associates degree and try to transfer.

But right now, I'm really jealous of people that have a dead set goal in sight. I have no idea what I want to do. I know people say "it can wait" and "you don't have to know right away" but I don't think I can financially afford the luxury of floating in major-swapping limbo. I can't stay in forever after all.

Who knows? Maybe a big-name will accept me AND let me defer enrollment for a year while I go on the exchange program and thus end my wondering. *crosses fingers*

Many private schools also have donations from alumni that help to pay for scholarships within the school, so based on financial need and/or academic performance, you sometimes have the chance of not having to pay it all...I'm hoping to transfer, yet again, to Parsons Paris in about two years...so I'm looking into these kinds of things

I live in Australia and the government pays for $70 000 of our education (most courses are somewhere between $20 000 - $30 0000) and we pay them back once we start earning over $40 000 in a full time job.

Congrats to everyone who was successful and good luck to the rest of you still waiting/rejected

Offers here come out Jan 10 (counting down..incredibly stressful). Because my high school marks weren't that great i'll do a year of Arts majoring in psychology and philosophy and transfer into a business course the year after. I don't know what i'll do if i don't get into this Arts course :( pray for me everyone!

So I'm REALLY appreciative of living in Canada.. the government subsidizes like 85% of the tuition costs.. a year's tuition is like $5000 (unless you're doing sciences which cost more.) Plus books, mandatory fees, etc.. it costs around $7,000-8,000 a year.
And you don't need to pay anything back.

Wow that sounds very cheap in comparison. And i thought i had it good here

Also in the U.S. a lot of the most spendy universities will meet all financial need. I just learned that Penn has committed to a 4(?) year goal to eliminate all interest on college loans as part of financial aid. So in a couple years there will be no debt to cover post-loan.:woot: I'm sure many of the other colleges will attempt to do the same. It attracts more applicants to the school and helps all students out. The top schools (the most expensive ones) have mostly eliminated all merit scholarships to focus on financial need. In the meantime most colleges offer grants and work-study opportunities as well.
