"I GOT IN!" ... Announce acceptance of your Fashion School Appications here.

^ptowngal, I'm curious to how you answere the "Penn professor essay".

I can't find any Penn faculty. The website is a maze. I think my answer will end up being quite stilted.

haha ummm... I'm really into cancer research so I googled Cancer research and UPenn, got lucky, and voila! found a guy doing the research I've been working on and wrote my essay.

I'd say google is your best friend on this one.:heart:

Same problem here I know I want to work at a NY mag but the money is an issue
I need things and I just think that being broke for years aint to cute. But I will try anway.

Exactly... I would love to work at a magazine, too, like Interview or something, but the only people who can afford to intern at a NYC magazine are the children of the well to do, the ones who sit on their buts all day and give interning a bad name.

Right now, my college choices are:

1. Sarah Lawrence
2. Wagner
3. Drew or Manhattanville
4. Fordham
5. Virginia Commonwealth University or Old Dominion University (my in-state choices).

Of course, this could all change once I do my visits in March.

^ Exactly, that's the problem with unpaid internships. The ones with actual talent to do the job well can't do it because they can't afford to work for free....

Congratulations to everyone who got in, and I'll be crossing my fingers for the rest of you who are waiting on an answer or who haven't applied yet :flower:

Everyone was still shocked that I got in ED round.

What is ED? I googled it but all i got was "ED" the tv series and
wikipedia-Erectile Dysfunction..

Thank you so much nextnewface for that. Many people in the industry who are very narrowminded, sadly don't get that at all. It's pretty sad actually and people like me are on the sh*tty end of the stick. Thank you for making that point

i've decided to just go to the school closest to my home Cal state university of northridge. just so its cheaper on me, i really can't afford anything else even with financial aid :(

hopefully i will be able to transfer in 2 years!

I got into L.I.M. I can't wait! I got rejected from F.I.T. too. I'm sorry but I don't get it....

LOL! Jf813, i got into flippin PARSONS but not fit, prob has something to do with the fact that i tottaly put my all into applying thought, did my interview and got an a+ (literally) on their summer program.

I'm so scared about Parsons because I can't attend the interview and it's one of those "highly recommended" things..

how hard did you work on your portfolio?

I got into Arts at Australian Catholic (for all religions..) University :D I'm going to major in Psychology and Philosophy and my electives will probably be Literature and Sociology

My brother got into Commerce but he's already started Commerce Law at another university

Congrats to everyone who got in!!^_^ Colleges are so competitive these days, there's no telling who'll get in or not!

And the best of luck to anyone on the waitlist/regular decision!!:flower::flower:

^ I know Right!?
Im going to try to tranfer to NYU in two years, didnt get in the first time, but I know why I submited the wrong essay. But no worries there was NO WAY IN HELL my parents were letting me out of the state so soon outtta highschool.

I just need a moment to rant:

I am really not feeling the SATs. Not at all. Is it fair that, because there is no way in hell that my family can afford to spend $1,000 to get me special SAT Prep that my friend with a GPA in the 2.5-3.0 range will probably get into schools equal to mine? Not at all.

That's probably why I'm heading the liberal arts direction... I make great grades, and I truly love to learn; I don't just want to get a fancy diploma to show off. Does that mean anything anymore?

So I'm REALLY appreciative of living in Canada.. the government subsidizes like 85% of the tuition costs.. a year's tuition is like $5000 (unless you're doing sciences which cost more.) Plus books, mandatory fees, etc.. it costs around $7,000-8,000 a year.
And you don't need to pay anything back.

Since when did you not have to pay anything back? I go to school in Canada and everything needs to be paid by yourself. If you get a government loan it all needs to be paid back too as soon as you're finished once interest kicks in.
But the good thing is that tuition is pretty low from 4000, but I know some people who pay a little over 8000 for commerce.

Congratulations to everyone!
