:woot: hillarious but true.. Keys make their ode to Hedi
i bet he is thrilled by officially entering the rock star system

Raf sounds like he's gonna be next ^_^

Hedi Slimane has been known to seek inspiration from the rock scene. Now, Boston-based indie rock group Keys to the Streets of Fear is returning the tribute with a song dedicated to the Dior Homme designer. “Hedi Slimane” is to be released as a 7-inch vinyl record on Aug. 5. The song features lyrics such as “I want pants like Hedi Slimane” and “I want jeans like Hedi Slimane” followed by the chorus “I want to ---- like Hedi Slimane.”

If that’s too risqué for U.S. radio stations, there’s always the French version, also on the record. “One of the main reasons we did the song in French and English is so that it could get played on the radio here, since no American DJ will figure out the French words,” said lead singer Pasquale Timore (wishful thinking).

Beyond entertainment, the group has fashion ambitions. To celebrate the song’s release, it has approached costume designer Robin Chalfin to rework 10 Antwerp Six outfits purchased at discount stores such as Century 21. Chalfin took apart the pieces and put them back together, adding materials like leather and silk. They will be exhibited at Stel’s boutique in Boston next month.

“Hedi Slimane is rock ’n’ roll,” Timore said. “He and Raf Simons are these little obsessions of ours. Our drummer is a former haberdasher and we are really into tailoring.”

I chuckled to myself in the office when I read this in WWD this morning......but of course I will be buying it:lol:

Thanx Lena for posting this:flower: I almost PM'd you to post this since I don't have WWD online

I know a lot of DH fans will find this amusing......

a-what is stel's boutique in boston?
b-what the heck does the antwerp 6 have to do with this band?
c-why would you take apart and re-work the pieces of designers you respect and admire?...(rather insulting actually if you ask me...)
d-who the heck are these guys?...

and how do they know how hedi slimane ****'s???...

Some friends of mine run it. Great store.

I don't know anything about the above article, I just sent them an email about it to find out what's up.

Looks cool, indeed. I had now idea there would be a market for this kind of stuff in Boston. Sorry if I sounded obnoxious  .

Hmm, should be interesting. I wonder which pieces were taken apart and reworked!

I'll have to stop by Stel's next month then! KLM, please keep us posted.

thanks for the info klm...

appreciate any further info you can get regarding the event

Sounds like they're doing something Vive La Fête and Chicks on Speed has already done,to be honest.

That Stel's,I never knew about that. Looks interesting I suppose if just a mere haven for hipster labels.

The fact that, this, “I want pants like Hedi Slimane” and “I want jeans like Hedi Slimane” followed by the chorus “I want to ---- like Hedi Slimane.” apparently is not ironic is kind of pathetic.

the way i see it, those kids seem like taking the p**s out of hedi's (and Raf's) obsession with the 'rock scene' :D

how appropriate for musicians to 'bite' back (even though i'm positiove, Hedi must love this)

fair enough. one day i will also put my christmas list in the shape of a song, hopefully the designers mentioned will send something for free. :innocent:

No worries.

I haven't heard back yet about this yet.

Is what they carry considered hipster? I don't know, they work with Opening Ceremony a lot, and are bringing some new and cool stuff into Boston. They also display a lot of art etc. from local artists, so I'm not surprised that something like this is happening there.

I think Raf is in a totally different realm. The music he has reference is mostly the goth music of the 80's, like joy division, sisters of mercy, etc. You don't see Raf chasing around the flavor of the month all "inspired". Besides, Raf has referenced so many things other than rock.

kLm, thanks for your input. yea, a lot of that stuff is hipster uniform.

And let's not forget they get some PR out of this by using Hedi's name, a bit easy, but he seems to be a good sport! If the song is actually good it will be a good trick for at least 5 minutes of fame .

just to clear a couple things up....

- you can't get the song online. you hafta buy the 7".

- the lyrics aren't entirely correct, as reported. we're not just talkin' about slacks.

- irony is a dead scene
