Btw weoui is that chocolate any good? The $1 price tag for an entire slab kinda scares me off... Even though I eat the $1 hotdogs with little hesitation 
I just imagine the chocolate to be all waxy, or worse...powdery
And I guess because it's in packaging and I like to witness my food, I don't know why I never invested a $1 to find out

but now i'm moving to my own apt
and i need to buy EVERYTHING!!!!

Went to Ikea last night, got a bunch of stuff...not everything I wanted (sometimes the online pics are tricky 
) BF wasn't too pleased with the bedclothes I wanted, he said they were too girly. But he's the one who wants to put a huuuge picture of Audrey Hepburn on the wall

i went there for the first time in my LIFE last weekend
an amazing time!!..besides check-out
bought an Exarby sofa bed
and an odd wooden chair
also got some steel pots and pans --
has anyone got these from there?
because they heat up so FAST.. they boil water in like 2-5 minutes
either that or it is the burners on the stove that overheat.. they have aluminum foil all over the bottoms (was applied that way, when I arrived at the new place)

Please tell me you stopped by the canteen!!Personally i think ikea is totally over rated. Sometimes the only good stuff there is probably more expensive than if bought in a good department store.
But sometimes i go there and buy stuff because it´s easy and some things are cheap, but you really have to look for the right things.
And like The Ida said, the photos in the catalogue are misleading..

I love IKEA!! I tell people here in the states how amazing it is and no one has ever heard of it. Psh. The stuff can be cheaply made though. I can't help but always buy some Swedish food in the market at IKEA also.

but wow what i love about the place is the many small rooms ..giving you ideas about how to style your own home..so wonderful! i notice a lot of everything is based on wood+steel theme.. i wonder if that is solely a Scandinavian aesthetic

I think it depends where you live. Honestly, I can't think of where I would find similar items cheaper than Ikea. A nice sofa chair for $150? Sears is the cheapest home place around here, and that sort of thing would be $400 or so there. I just went this past weekend, and didn't get anything exciting. Lack side table and shelves, and a picture ledge, but I'm excited for it to all be up and the storage to be better.
I also think the pans and pots are a good deal. Where else would you find something that works so well any cheaper? I have a big frying pan from them, and it really works well. Same for my pots. No, not the nicest pots in the world but they work and were worth the price.

i like ikea. i remember my studio flat i rented in antwerp being fully furnished with ikea(except appliances)and loving it. gorgeous wardrobe...blue sueded velour sofa-bed...huge tv stand cum book shelf...curtains and even lighting fixtures that reminded me of a studio. it really did have that scandinavian feel.

besides Sears there is also Zellers.. i didn't check the beds but i know simple things like shelves that are drilled into the wall cost $9 for a whole set as opposed to $20 for one at Ikea
but yeah depends on where you live...
i guess if the pots heat up fast then it is a good thing. i generally use low heat to cook with so i didn't like it at first that it cooked the food so quickly
i preferred the sofa bed too, which is what i got.. i turned my own bedroom into a work area and now i live in the living room lol.. but i love the big space and i think it's nice to turn the bed into a sofa.. it's like putting your bed away after sleeping but you don't really

like drawers and cupboards that are quite narrow and wouldn't stand on its own if you had stuff in them..
it's kind of amusing the design and also saves plenty of space... i think i found most of these in nurseries/rooms for little children... i wish they had photos of the rooms in their catalog!!
i'm inspired to have everything kind of 'shoved' into the wall (drawers in the wall,a sitting area jutting into the wall and floating shelves) and then the rest of the room is this blank vast interior space i could put some sort of rug in it...

Wow. All you people in the USA are so lucky. We have Ikea here in Australia but it sounds no where near as great as your's. Plus the Australian one tends to be around double the price of the USA, which means it just ends up being expensive cheaply made furniture...
