Illamasqua Makeup

Being now totally hooked on Illamasqua, I wanted to place a huge order, but limited myself to one blush that I ordered from Asos- they had the powder blush in one shade, beg, which was just the shade I really wanted- it was obviously meant to be. :D As the shipping is free from Asos, and I had a 20% discount code, I managed to stay within the budget, which I wouldn't have if allowing myself a spree at Illamasqua.com.

Btw, if you become a fan of Illamasqua on Facebook, you get a 15% discount code!

^thanks for the tip! I really want to go splurge on make up this month but somehow feel the need to hold myself back...my bank account may not be too happy.

Moving into perfume... (temptalia.com):

Illamasqua Freak Eau de Parfum to Launch in October 2011

“Illamasqua is undoubtedly the most vibrant and fastest growing British make-up brand of this generation. When creating all the elements of this fragrance, from the scent to the bottle, the packaging to the image, the prime focus has been to deliver a groundbreaking concept that delivers an irresistible assault on the senses, whether you have heard of the Illamasqua brand or not. Freak by Illamasqua has succeeded on every point of that intention. Illamasqua make-up captures the essence of night-time transformations, unleashing your alter ego and celebrating self-expression. We have now managed, with great care, to distil that attitude into a fragrance and bottle it. It’s time to dress up and howl at the moon. Get your Freak on!” — Joseph Corre, Illamasqua Joint MD
  • top notes: Black Davana, Opium Flower and Belladonna bewitch the senses into uncontrollable lust and passion.
  • heart notes: Poison Hemlock, Datura and Queen of the Night blossom, caress and kiss.
  • base notes: Aromas of Frankincense, Oud and Myrrh, addictively mesmerises and captures the senses.
"The rich and daringly provocative opening notes of Black Davana cast a magical spell of desire across the senses to celebrate the night. This compelling burnt orange bloom base is highly prized the world over for its ability to enhance the wearer’s natural perfume. The subtle mustiness of Poison Hemlock haunts the background tone of Freak, adding alluring depths of mystery.

Datura, the Moonflower, an intoxicating scent that has long been used as a heady aphrodisiac. The exquisitely rare Queen of the Night blooms fleetingly for a single night each year, and completes this daringly provocative concoction with its warm, soft floral scent touched with sweetness. With the help of Master Perfumer, Azzi Glasser, Illamasqua has created a powerfully addictive potion.

Freak is encased in a beautifully ornate art deco-inspired bottle, tilted to one side, as though confirming to the dictates of an alternative reality. Its smoked glass dances in the light and features a delicate silver snail and its trail, symbolising an addictive passionate path of desire that is both distinctive and unusually provocative.

To accompany the launch of Freak, Illamasqua have created a capsule collection of three limited edition products, whose shades reflect the rare blooms that make up this most exotic of scents. Embracing the mysterious histories of their namesakes are hardwearing Nail Varnish in Hemlock (pale opal green iridescent), the nocturnal heart of Pure Pigment in Queen of the Night (blackened plum), and a sensual Sheer Lipgloss in Datura (neutral mauve)."

I love Illamasqua but I'm not too fond of the name this time around. I do want to try out that perfume very badly!

Does anyone have the "New Masquara"? I've been buying the same Maybelline mascara for several years now and feel like trying a new one and thought the one from Illamasqua might be good?

A strong purple (temptalia.com):

Illamasqua Kontrol Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “blue-violet” by Illamasqua, while Sephora lists it as a “matte deep lavender.” The texture of Kontrol is actually quite different from Illamasqua’s line of lipsticks–it’s very, very creamy. It’s not dry at all, and the reality is the finish isn’t exactly matte either. It’s has a noticeable shine though it wears off in an hour or so, and then it takes on a more satiny, semi-matte finish. I was utterly shocked by how creamy the consistency was! It glided on like butter with mostly opaque color coverage.

The color is a dark purple, which doesn’t read “blue violet” to me, though it’s not red-toned either. It’s more cool-toned than warm, especially as it brings out the yellow undertones in my skin. I felt like I had seen this color before, but I couldn’t think of anything and nothing matched in the Swatch Gallery. When it comes to lipstick, most purples lean red, so if you’ve always wanted something truer, this might be the one.

Illamasqua’s lipsticks wear well, usually four to six hours because of the drier, mostly matte formula, but some of the darker shades wear as long as eight hours before reapplication becomes necessary. Kontrol wore about five hours on me, but it was more comfortable to wear compared to other Illamasqua lipsticks. I don’t find the formula to be drying, but the lack of slip does decrease overall comfort a tad. The lipsticks are unscented and taste-free.

I'm want to purchase the skin base foundation but I'm curious how pick out the right shade of foundation online? Is the Skin Base detail photo of the foundation true to color?

If you go onto the Illamasqua website there's quite a good comparison chart for other brands including MAC and YSL. I've also heard their customer service is good so if you can't decide on your match from that then maybe emailing them would help? I want to buy it too but I'm planning to try it first (luckily I work near the only Illamasqua counter in Sydney) as I've heard mixed reviews of how it sits on dry skin.

^ THAT IS AMAZING.

i purchased pigment in "berber" but haven't had a chance to use it as of yet.

I've been meaning to try this out as well. I've heard nothing but amazing things about it, but every eye is different. I'd try it and if it doesn't work there's always returning it.

^Returning would be too much of a hassle for me but I think I'll give it a try anyway if you say you heard good things about it. So far I'm super happy with all my Illamasqua products (their nail polish is the best I've ever had, way better than Chanel, OPI, etc.). They have free shipping promotion atm, I think I'll order the Masquara and tons of eyeliner and nail polishes :innocent:

I have a make up artist friend who loves Illamasqua products, and I photographed her two days ago when she happened to use the cream blush in DIXIE, I thought it looked really beautiful and a bit on the dewy side in strong sunlight.

has anyone bought anything in the sale? i was drawn to it like a moth to a flame :( bought a pair of false eyelashes, a black kohl pencil and a new lipstick

^Yup, I just spent £90 at Selfridges on Illamasqua products :ninja: They had a promotion in which you would get a free nail varnish for every two items you purchased. I got the New Masquara, eye pencils, liquid eyeliner and some nail polishes. ^_^

i can't tell what i'm drooling at more... £90 worth of illamasqua or £90 full stop. i'm so broke. i still aspire to own their jo'mina nail polish, i haven't seen anything like it on the high street

as i type this i remember that i have vouchers for 15% off........ o

I bought a few things, I used a 15% off coupon (LIKE15) but it didn't apply to sale items so I used it on Violate lipgloss. Got a few items that aren't available on Sephora, like Sangers lipstick, nail varnish in Shrapnel and Smash (so Hulk-like ) and S.O.P.H.I.E. bracelet & donation

I ended up getting the Freak perfume when I had my $15 Sephora gift card, which helped. I didn't like it at first, but now I am in love with it.

i really like freak, i think its quite masculine but i love the fact that unlike 99.999% of other perfumes i can still smell it on myself hours later ^__^

Their sale this season  I want so many things it's ridiculous. Anyone got anything nice from the sale?

Has anyone tried their Light Liquid Foundation? It's currently on sale, too, but I never tried any of their foundations before and don't know what they're like?

I am using the liquid eyeliner from Illamasqua. It has a bit of a finer tip than the mac liquid. I like both, but I tend to use Illamasqua more!
